Just thought I'd add my name to the list - just had spotting for the first time ever after a strenuous weights session with my trainer. It's midway in my cycle - i believe i'd be ovulating today or tomorrow. Reading all your replies made me feel better - i'll have to keep an eye on the situation.

Oh my gosh! I am feeling some relief knowing that other women are also experiencing this. I am going to the doctor tomorrow about this. I am a little freaked out because my younger sister died from cervical cancer! So anything period related puts me on edge. So, oddly enough, it's nice to know others have this too.

i had the same experience regarding spotting when doin heavy workout, i went to the doctor she told me that it might be a body reaction to fat burning metabolism byproducts which results in high levels of estrogen and that means hormonal imbalance resulting in spotting.

This is not normal. I thought I was alone in this world but now I see I am not the only one. I've seen many different types of doctors. I have been diagnosed with fibroids and polyps and had them removed believing this would fix me. I had a colonoscopy done but the doctor didn't see anything wrong with me. I was also diagnosed with a heart-shaped uterus. I am 39 years old and have not been able to conceive. I blame it on this. I have the bleeding and stomach cramps after intense workouts, my stomach is bloated and I have to go to the bathroom and sit there until the pain goes away. None of the doctors I have seen have been able to help me out. They said they have never heard of such a thing. As soon as I start feeling the stomach cramps, I lower the intensity of my workouts. I believe it has to do with the hormones. When I was on the pill, I didn't have this problem. But that's not the solution, we can't be on the pill for the rest of our lives. There has to be something we can do about it.

I guess I feel relief that others are experiencing the same thing I am. I am 33 and have recently noticed that on a fairly regular basis I bleed during ovulation...I feel that it is heavier than spotting but definitely not like my regular period. I asked my doctor and got tested and everything comes out "normal". The bleeding will happen after exercise as well sometimes. I guess it's "normal" but I feel like it is odd that it just started up over the last six months to a year...ugh.

I forgot to mention, after dealing with this issue for about 10 years not only do I bleed during intense workouts, now I bleed twice a month. The first one is my regular period and the second one is very moderate (a little heavier than the spotting) but I do get the stomach cramps and I get the bloating and get in a crappy mood. I call this my period number 2. I know this will get temporarily fixed with birth control pills but I refuse to take them. I want to get pregnant but it's just not happening.

I can't believe how many of us have this problem? I find that after a run or a heavy workout I will have bigger lose than spotting, but not enough to wear a pad - just a panty liver. Thank goodness for pant liners. If I am lucky I will have 2 weeks were I do not have the spotting, but as I run regularly, there isn't much of a break. I also get it after intercourse - not always but most of the time. Any-one else get it then???

I am 38 mother of 2 . I am also experiencing some spotting and red mucus after running. However I don't run for very long, just 15 to 30 minutes, so it doesn't seem like heavy workout. It have only been running for about 4 weeks and it has happened almost every time I worked out . I haven't seen the doctor yet, but I will next week. Other than this I have never had any irregular issues with periods/child birth or anything. I'm starting to be concerned but is conforting to see that it happens to other women. Hopefully is nothing for all of us.

Same thing happens to me. I have been told I have cysts on my ovaries that pop when I ovulate causing the blood and sometimes intense cramping. It gets worse with intense exercise. I have seen two gyno drs and both say everything is normal. I Just worry about it interfering with getting pregnant. Have any of you had this problem interfere with getting pregnant???

I am experiencing the same exact thing. Brownish colored blood, but no cramping. I decided to get back in the gym this month and that's when it begun. I am mid cycle, but I have other concerns that I thought could play a part in it. I have had an ovary removed, and not sure if this is normal. I too have been sitting on my arse and haven't seeked out another OB-Gyn because they aren't helpful. I feel like if they were, I wouldn't have lost an ovary to begin with. But, I have to suck it up and get in the Doctor's Office and refuse to leave withough at answer..I am childless and need my other ovary in the worst way. I'll keep you gals posted on the updates.

Glad I found this thread!
After 5 years of no exercising, I started at the gym again. After 2 consequtive days of training (threadmill, weights, abs), I found spotting, bright red and some clear mucus. I got worried, but thought to check first online. I am glad to see that it seems to happen to many other women. I am 40, and not on birth control. I will see how it develops. I feel less worried now! Thanks.

I have noticed that it seems there are several woman on here around the middle 30's with this problem. I am experiencing a bloody discharge after my more intense runs and weight lifting. I have a pelvic ultrasound scheduled for tomorrow. They want to rule out any polyps. It sounds like it may just be something that happens to some woman for no known reason. I know there are some more serious explanations for this, but they are rare. I used to run 50-60 miles a week when I was in college and never experienced this.

I have recently started getting severe cramping with exercise- mainly when doing stair runs, and started to get hormonal acne. My doctor wanted me to go on the pill, but I refuse to put synthetic hormones within my body on a regular basis. I went to a natropath said she believed it is a mixture between a hormonal imbalance and a magnesium deficiency, which explains why it is worse when you sweat more electrolytes out. I am currently taking chase berry extract which regulates your hormones naturally and taking a magnesium supplement daily.

Ok ladies, vaginal bleeding after exercise has nothing to do with caffien, C-sections, pregnancy or vitamin deficeincy. When you exercise you have increased blood flow to organs. If you are out of shape, or if you have recently increased the amount of exertion you are doing, it is possible that you have a tear, burst blood vessel or other 'organ based' bleeding. Doctors often diregard it because (like your mouth) internal healing of small tears is very quick and hard to detect. Continous bleeding should DEFINITELY be checked by your Doctor because the tear may not be closing properly. If you exert yourself every time you work out, you may be reopening the tear, but it should stop within several hours or 1-2 days at MOST. Again, prolonged bleeding (in the middle of your cycle) should be checked by a health care professional.
