I'm 16 years old and I am a virgin. I have never engaged in any type of sex (oral, anal, or vaginal).
My periods have always been very regular. They are on the 24th-27th of each month and have been since I first started when I was 12. I've never had anything slightly abnormal about my reproductive health...no heavy bleeding, extremely painful cramping, irregular periods, or anything out of the ordinary until now.
I am in midcycle right now and I have had light vaginal bleeding and brown discharge for 8 days straight. After it had been occurring for 2 days, I told my mom and she said it was ovulation bleeding. But I have not told her that my bleeding has been going on for 8 days. I have read that ovulation bleeding usually does not occur for over 3 days. So now, I am getting scared that this is not ovulation bleeding. No pain at all has occurred with this bleeding. Like I said, it's very light blood spots and brown discharge. Nothing heavy. So I am very confused about what this bleeding is.
I know a lot of people will say I need to see an OB/GYN, but I have a phobia of going to someone I've never met before and spreading my legs while they look at, touch, and insert things into my private parts. Especially since I'm very modest and have never had a boyfriend I was sexually active with who saw my private areas. Plus since my hymen is still intact, I'm afraid a gynecologist would break that and hurt me even worse.
Since I'm a virgin, I know there is no possible way I could be pregnant or have an STD. Please, does anyone have any idea of what this light bleeding lasting over a week could be? Just extended ovulation bleeding or an indicator of a bigger problem?
Thanks!

Well, abnormal vaginal bleeding, which is any bleeding between periods and also prolonged or really heavy periods, can be caused by a lot of different things. A lot. And you can't figure it out just by looking at the symptoms and your life. OK, you can rule sexually transmitted diseases out, but not a hormonal imbalance, thyroid issues, polycystic ovary syndrome, etc, etc.
I hate to say it, but yes, you need to see an OBGYN or someone like that. It's normal to be scared. Perhaps check out your local Planned Parenthood if you are in the US. They are respectful and gentle and will do their best to make the visit be as pleasant as it can be under the circumstances.

Drink 1 tbsp of cod liver oil 2x a day for three days whenever you get irregular bleeding. Your irregular bleeding should stop within 2-3 days!
Irregular Bleeding Prevention: continue to take the cod liver oil 1 tbsp a day.
This works, works, works, works! Read about it. Try it, and get better!
Your body will respond even better if you start taking a food-based multivitamin. Anemia (iron-deficiency) causes excess bleeding.
If you are to the point of desperation, go off of wheat and dairy and cut sugar way down. Do this for 90 days (3 cycles), and observe if you have improvement.
