Yes, weight of the world!! Thank you HollyHunter for posting that, that is exactly how a "stress formula" B complex plus C pill has been making me feel!! Praise the LORD for this post, I am so happy to find the reason I've been feeling this way. The supplements are going in the trash!! I'll choke down all the veggies I can handle if I never have to feel like this again!
I appreciate finding this thread even though it began quite some time ago. I have been taking B12 and D3 on the recommendation of my doctor because of deficiencies found through routine blood work. I was taking calcium as well. I had no problems taking these supplements. Recently, I switched to a powdered supplement that contains everything including the "kitchen sink" (vitamins, minerals, probiotics, etc.) in order to be "healthier". On the first day, instead of feeling more energetic, I noticed an overwhelming feeling of depression and anxiety. At first I didn't link my change in mood to the supplement, but after a few days, I began to notice that it would wear off at the end of the day and ramp up again after I took the supplement in the morning. This caused a Google search that led me to this thread. Everything listed in your post is in the new supplement. I would have to say that for me the culprit is NOT B12, D3, or Calcium based on my previous experience taking these supplements. It could be one ingredient, a combination of ingredients or too much of an ingredient. I guess I'll never know. I am relieved to know that my "depression" isn't chronic. Thank you for making me aware that things you think are good for you might actually cause you harm.
I started to notice a coorelation with depression and anxiety when I am on a multivitamin (Men's One a Day by Bayer). At first I thought this sounded absurd because vitamins are associated with good health. I was relieved when I did a google search and found that others are experiencing the same effect. I wish there was a warning on the multivitamin that says that some may experience depression.
These can cause terrible depression! I can't overstate this!!
It may not be the vitamins at all but the artificial colors. I recommend you try your local health food store for a higher quality, more natural vitamin supplement and see if that helps.
Not saying it couldn't be the vitamins, but my own son suffers extreme depression when he ingests artificial colors, especially the yellow dyes!
EVERYONE!! Please if you are on a miltivitamin and you have a constant feeling of sadness, gloominess for for no apparent reason please get of it for a few months to determine if this is causing it. This has just got to be the weirdest situation ever but something I never thought can affect me so badly.
