Hi,
I am currently tapering off lexapro. I started tapering on July 2nd and am taking it very slowly trying to avoid terrible withdrawals. I have been on lexapro for almost 11 months now. I started at 10 mg. then added a 5 mg dose in the mornings... I dropped the 5 mg back in May. Anyways, I have gained 14 pounds... i eat well and exercise regularly. I have not changed anything for the worse since starting the lexapro... in fact i have been on LA Weight Loss since last March so i've actually improved my lifestyle. The weight is coming on quickly right now. It's very scary to gain weight EVERY WEEK! Will my body stabilize once i'm off the lex? Will the weight come off?
Thanks.

Regular exercise and Vitamins are a key after you stop taking lexapro. Omega 3s are most essential. Take them regularly and exercise, I am sure it will help shedding those pounds. I had put on 16 pounds over all in the 8 months of lexapro. I have always been a slim person, so it was very hard for me to live with that kind of weight gain. But regular exercise regime and vitamins are working for me so far, slow and steady. Good luck!

I have gained 30 lbs from Lexapro..went off of it ..dealing with withdraws..
Can someone please tell me that they got back to their pre lexapro weight??? Honestly. My weight hasn't budged!!!!
I’ve gained 40+lbs taking Lexapo. I officially weened myself off of it about two weeks ago. The withdrawal symptoms have finally stopped. I told my doctor about the weight gain and he tried to tell me I had been gaining weight before taking Lexapro and that it had nothing to do with it. Not true! I decided to stop taking Lexapro because of the weight gain and the fact that it wasn’t helping my depresssion and anxiety. Any improvement I made was by my own personal effort. I also realized I was only still taking Lexapo to avoid the withdrawal symptoms. I’m hoping now that I’ve stopped taking it the weight will come off. I hope to report back having lost all of the Lexapo weight!!
I don't know why this happens to some people. It has the exact opposite effect on me, the weight just melts of me which is kinda crazy.
I've lost all of the weight I gained while on Lexapro. Just keep taking your vitamins. It's taken me 6 months to taper slowly off but I feel great!!
