Visual Looming Syndrome happens because of issues with eye coordination, a phobia can be caused by an early event/trauma. I think it´s the syndrome you have. It can be fixed with exercise.

I also have the same thing with the bedside table!! It sometimes stops me from sleeping and so I either have to stretch my arm out so I know that it is no where near me or put my feet there and swap sides. But for me watching someone running through a forest is the worst or if I’m in the car and we’re going past some trees. I sometimes panic and have to close my eyes. I feel like it’s getting worse and I don’t know what to do

Oh my gosh I’m so glad I’m not alone. This has happened since I was a child but no one has ever understood! I’m so glad I’m not alone. The nightstand thing happens to me and also when shopping and things are on a display and they are hung sticking off the shelf!

It sounds like Looming eye syndrome. I have successfully helped 2 people using hypnotherapy. You might want to find a hypnotherapist, near you, or contact someone familiar. My Lakeside Hypnotherapy FB page has an article about Looming eye syndrome, you might find interesting. Teya Graves

I have had this phobia since I was a kid. I used to hide in stores under clothing racks so the hangers wouldn't pone my eyes out. It's not just subconsciously either because it would hurt as it pressure was on my eyeballs. I have been made fun of so many times by sibling growing up and kids and fiance now. I cant wait to tell them it's a real thing. Obviously doesnt have a name yet though cause I looked everywhere. My little brother used to point at me and say "I'm not touching her" when I would cry and hide while he pointed and laughed. The old man had a great time with me when I made him shorten the ceiling fan light string so I didnt have to look at it on eye level. I asked my Eye Dr and she said it must be some sort of phobia. All I know is I'd rather be afraid of spiders or something than to constantly feel that pressure. I cover all tables and shelves with covers or pillow cases so the corners dont show. All hangers are plastic. Cabinets are to never be left closed!! And dont point at me or I will bite your finger off. House rules!!

All of these comments are exactly me I feel relieved I am not alone, but I want to know what it is and why and how to make it stop. Been like it since a kid, it comes out of no where and can make me want to keep my eyes closed or even to take them out to make it stop!!!! Even if the "pointy" objects are no where near me I can feel them trying to poke me in the eye!!!!

I have this same feeling. Knowing that there is something near my face, regardless if it's sharp or blunt, I become very anxious in the possibility that it might injure my eye.

I have a very similar feeling whenever I imagine thorny bushes, or see images of thorny bushes and trees.
It's almost like a nervous system response to want to back away and shut my eyes. As I'm I'm about to be poked in the eye. Is disturbing and I have to drive the image out of my mind as this feeling g is uncomfortable.
So strange

There is a name for this. It is called Visual Looming Syndrome. I have this too, and I share many of the symptoms that you have. If you wear glasses, I have read online that you could lower the prescription. Obviously, you would need to consult an eye doctor.

I've been going through the same thing since I was young, tried telling my mom about it when I was in school but i just couldn't explain it to her to where she would understand, it really is getting worse everyday here lately, it's so aggravating, especially when you are in the middle of a conversation with someone and it happens, they look at u like ur crazy, I just act like my sinuses are bothering me because there no need in trying to explain it to someone that doesnt deal with the same thing
