I'm SOOO worried about a few symptoms and wanted to know peoples opinion!
I have been on birth control for years for dysfunctional uterine bleeding. I am currently on Mircette for about a year and have not had any problems until recently. About 6 months ago I lost my virginity (we used a condom and it was safe) and bled pretty heavy for a few days (not exactly like a period, but still heavy). Ever since this incident, I have had heavier periods than previously. I have not had sex since. I have NOT had any painful urination, rashes, flu- like symptoms, etc.
Starting 3 months after having sex, and for the past 3 months in a row, I have had thin brown discharage or staining for 2 days occuring on the 14-16th day of my cycle. This is when I would "ovulate" but since i'm on birth control i'm not supposed to ovulate! I have never had this problem and have been on birth control for years. Could my hormones change and the pills just no longer work? or is it related to the sex (std or something)?
Thank you in advance!

Mircette is a low dose pill..It is still working, and unlikely you are ovulating!
On a low dose pill, some women notice that during certian times of the month they will spot for 1-3 days, it is not something that is dangerous though.
IT IS ANNOYING, and I understand that!
Perhaps a slightly higher dose pill may actually do better for you?

I was thinking of changing my pills, because i do think the hormones are probably too low, but is it abnormal that this is suddenly happening after a year of taking them?
I think the higher dose pills would fix the problem and i'm def going to the doctor soon to figure this all out, but I'm just concerned because this is all happening after a year being on this pill with no problem, and the only new thing that happened since was having sex. (which is probably unrelated, but i still worry). Is it normal to just have a sudden change of hormones after being on them so long? Thank you so much for the response!
It is common for some women, maybe due to weight changes or body chemistry changes, to need a higher dose pill.
Even though you are not ovulating, your cervix may be going through monthly changes, it may become softer at certian times of the month. IF you have sex when your cervix is softer or more sensitive, it could cause bleeding...
That's another thought I would run by..There are many causes to spotting..MOST are not worrisome, just annoying.
