What are possible causes of brown vaginal discharge?

So, when I went to visit my gynecologist (I did it within three days) he asked me immediately have I noticed this discharge after or before my period.

It can be nothing, but also it can be something that you should be worried about. You can't just guess what exact cause is. There are so many different reasons why you might have brown vaginal discharge. For example, it can be caused because of ovulation. Also, it can happen after your period. Menopause can be also one of the reasons (I don't know how old are you), but still, it can be because of pregnancy and miscarriage. Also, there is a huge possibility that your vaginal discharge is brown because you have some STD. I think that I was a bit cruel with my post, but that is the way that it should be because I think that this is the only way to tell you the truth.

The main reason is that birth control alters hormone levels in your body and because hormones are responsible for the onset of menstruation – and ovulation – it’s no surprise that many women experience spotting or brownish-colored discharge when they’re on birth control.

If you are using pills, it can be because of it.

 

Don't wait anymore! You need to visit your doctor. I am telling you this from the experience because when I had this issue I believed that this is nothing, that this is something normal. At the beginning, my discharge was just brown and two weeks ago I saw that my discharge is brown and gooey as well. I need to tell you that this was my first alarm (I know that this is irresponsible), I went to see my doctor the next day immediately and after some tests, he told me that I have a hormonal imbalance. It was because of my diet program that I was following back then. But that was not the only thing. He also discovered that I do have STD. So, please, go and visit your doctor. I am OK right now, but I would never do this to me again! NEVER!
