Richard North Patterson's "Protect & Defend" which is a fictional story about what happens when the President has to nominate a new Supreme Court candidate. I started it before SDO resigned, but now it feels like urgent reading.
I finished the Harry Potter book and started to read "The New York's Road Runners Club Complete Book on Running and Fitness, 3rd edition"
I'm about to try to dig into The Rise of Theodore Roosevelt for the 2nd time...
Ooohhh I read the White House Years written by his son. Not being American, I wasn't aware of all he did. An unbelievable man. But reviled by many in his time.
I browsed the article. Thus far that's not exactly what the book is about. It is part natural history, part autobiography right now. I don't know yet if it'll get into human evolution for running, though I imagine it will. It also talks about Heinrich training for an ultramarathon. I haven't read any of it in a week or so. I was using it as light bathroom reading for a while, but got distracted by Harry Potter.
From what little I know...it seems like they were probably intimidated by his progressive views.
I have this book on my shelf (along with Theodore Rex, the follow up volume), but haven't cracked the cover yet. I went through a stretch where I bought a bunch of history type books and I still haven't read them.

You should before school starts... it's mostly an easy read... the interesting part is that it doesn't lean left or right, it provides a new means of thoughtful analysis of numbers
BTW, I understand that Levitt is the guy who first proposed that the passage of Roe v. Wade was the contributing cause to the lowering crime rate in 80's.

meh~~~ i don't like mystery novels, isn't stephanie a detective or something? not. floating. my. boat. thank you, more suggestions are welcome! i tend to like depressing books. :? i find reading fiction such a waste of my time (and i have no idea why :x ) that i have a hard time getting interested unless it's really really dark, i guess. which sucks cuz i need to lighten up, on the whole, i need to lighten up. dark but funny. yeah, that's the ticket.
