About 1 year ago I began getting swelling in my temples. I work as a dental assistant and have my dentist check me out, he basically told me its not my teeth or TMJ and it must be my sinuses. I go to my drs and he didnt seem to concerned and tells me to get blood work and if my swelling happens to take a picture. Now when I wake up my temples ar swollen which makes me think Im grinding my teeth at night, which my husband says I do. more so clench. I also work remotely at home  and are on my computer 8-9 hrs a day and clentch my teeth while I work. But why is under my chin starting to swell, making it look like I have double chin. I have Celiac Disease which cause inflammation constantly in my body.. I just dont know what to do and who to talk to, no one seems concerned. I am, it hurts, Im getting bad headaches and can hardly eat cause the swelling worsens.

Swelling in the temples and under the chin can have many possible causes, some of which are minor and others that may require medical attention. Some possible causes of swelling in these areas include:

  1. Allergies: Allergic reactions can cause swelling in various parts of the body, including the face, temples, and chin.

  2. Infections: Certain infections, such as sinus infections or dental infections, can cause swelling in the face, including the temples and under the chin.

  3. Autoimmune conditions: In addition to Celiac Disease, there are other autoimmune conditions that can cause inflammation and swelling in the body, including the face.

  4. Medication side effects: Some medications can cause swelling as a side effect.

  5. Trauma: Trauma to the face or head can cause swelling in the temples and under the chin.

Your doctor may recommend further testing or refer you to a specialist, such as an allergist or an ENT doctor, for further evaluation and treatment. In the meantime, you can try using a cool compress on the affected areas and taking over-the-counter pain relievers to help alleviate any discomfort.
