Every few days I get a very sharp pain in my head on the left side. It seems to start in back of my head and shoots forward to my left eye. If I'm walking when it happens it will actually make me stumble.

Hi, Calvwyne.

There are several possible causes of sharp pain on the left side of the head, including:

  1. Migraine: Migraine is a type of headache that is usually characterized by a severe, throbbing pain on one side of the head.

  2. Tension headache: Tension headaches are the most common type of headache, and they can cause a dull, achy pain on both sides of the head.

  3. Cluster headache: Cluster headaches are rare but extremely painful headaches that usually occur on one side of the head.

  4. Sinusitis: Sinusitis is an inflammation of the sinuses that can cause pain and pressure in the forehead, cheeks, and around the eyes.

  5. Trigeminal neuralgia: Trigeminal neuralgia is a condition that causes severe facial pain, including sharp pain on one side of the head.

  6. Occipital neuralgia: Occipital neuralgia is a condition that causes severe pain in the back of the head and scalp, often on one side.
