Assuming you have a 28 day cycle you would ovulate between days 11 and 16 of the cycle. The egg can remain viable for about 48 hours. Having sex from about 10 days PRIOR to your period your fertility is decreasing rapidly and reaches it's lowest point just before your period STARTS.
There is always a risk however.
