Are you all daft? You could have oral cancer - go to the doctor. You don't go removing lumps by yourself and then think that you've solved the problem. You could have something cancerous in which case you may have caused it to spread.

Sheesh, you're all living in the dark ages, apparently.

I have had these a few times. Not sure why though. Seems like I have a problem of rubbing them against my teeth so it gets worse. But When I finally calm down and just keep my mount clinched shut, it will go away in a few days. I noticed that if I suck on a cough drop, it seems to numb a little bit, and with the numbing and the focus of sucking the cough drop, it makes it feel better. But its even more annoying once my cough drop is done, so I went through a bad today. I don't advise pulling it off. I think I tried that a long time ago, and If I remember correctly, it got worse. I think the best remedy is to leave it alone, and keep your tongue from rubbing your teeth.

I had that a couple times in the past, i am still not sure of what it was til this day, but it went away on it's own. I don't think it was something bad, cause it went away. It looked like a pimple, I don't think u should be worried :-D I have gotten them when i was sick and when i was not sick, But mostly around the time i was sick. It should go away on its own, Lately when i got it, i was told to put vanilla extract on it, so that is what i did, it went away faster, I just took alittle and rubbed it on it, it does not really taste good, but it helped. :-D

i had this also and in several spots on my tongue and it hurt. I went to the dr. and they told me it was caused by a strong antibiotic i had taken a few weeks ago. it can actually cause a yeast infection in ur mouth...gross. They gave me lozengers and it was gone soon after.

I had the same thing and it is from my anemia. I have the anemia characterized by a lack of B12 and when my B12 is low my whole mouth hurts and I get that white thing on my tongue. Take a B12 supplement and see if it goes away. You probably should go get a routine blood test just to check on your cholesterol, sugar levels, B12, Iron. I think that you get one of these blood tests at a physical. I get them at least 2 a year beause I am anemic.

I've had a small pimple-like bump on my tongue for about 6 months...hard to see...no pain...but I mentioned it to my doc cuz it wasn't going away. He's sending me to an ENT doc and they will do a biopsy to see if it's cancer of the tongue. Don't any of you just ignore it...better to find out and deal with it while it's small than wait until it's a huge problem. I'll keep all of you posted....

I get these same painful bumps on my tongue every once in awhile. But yesterday, I started getting them again, and then today they started popping up all over my tongue and they hurt really bad. I think I finally know what it causing them, and I bet alot of you will see that you have the same problem as I do.....TOO MUCH STRESS!!! I have had a very stressful week, and today was AWFUL!!! Around 8:00pm, things got really bad, and I had an anxiety attack because I was so stressed out. Then a couple of hours later, I started to get more and more bumps on my tongue!! I researched it, and sure enough! You can get these bumps by stress!! So, try and relax over the weekend, and hopefully, the bumps will go away (at least until the next very stressful week comes a knocking!!!).

i have one right now. dont freak out. its not going to kill you. a lot of people get them. they come naturally. they usually last for about a week or so. people say it comes from you telling lies. but if you pop them then you will sometimes get 2 and it will be on your tongue more then a week; maybe like 2 weeks. but yea it stings, but not that bad. lol

I found the same thing on the tip [slightly to the left side] of my tongue the other morning. I took a nap and it wasn't there, woke up and BAM! There it was, beginning to appear. Over the next few days it got even more annoying -- up to the part where I thought clipping it out would solve it. XD
Didn't do it, though, started bleeding so I stopped [plus it hurts like Hell].
It's good to know so many people have it, I was beginning to worry it might be something bad or whatever. XD
So, it'll go away with ice? o.O

i have 2 white bumps on the side of my tongue right now too. i actually was taking a medication that causes tardive dyskenesia and one of the side effects is that i constantly grind my teeth. i think this somehow caused the irritation on my tongue. i had it for about a week and it's finally starting to go away and stop hurting. i read up on tongue bumps online and it definitely doesn't resemble the herpes pictures i saw on google. i also read that if it's cancerous, it usually doesn't hurt. so hopefully this isn't cancerous because it actually hurt when it first appeared a week ago.

It means that you are constipated. You need a good clean out and the bump will go away. My mom told me this years ago and it always works.
