Ok so, i quit smoking near 8 years ago and since then i have had this annoying breathing problem where my lungs have always felt hyper inflated. I don't have breathing problems in the sense that i cant breathe or anything, after exercise i can catch my breathe fine etc. But if i don't do any breathing techniques (pursed lips which seem to bring physical side effects down for a while) after a few days i get dizzy, legs turn into jelly and a sort of anxious state. I have been doing the breathing techniques for ages but the problem is always there. Ive been to the docs countless amounts of times who by this point keep saying its anxiety.
I have done enough researching to know that quitting smoking has had a huge impact on my breathing and that either im high or low on one or the other (02 or c02). I check my 02 levels which seems seems to be ok so im assuming its too much or too less c02. Thing is how do i tell which ? or indeed if it is spikes of high or low 02 levels that aren't caught on the monitor. Does anyone know how to check exactly what im high or low on cos at this point i feel like turning to something which could for sure send me high !!
Il ask answer any questions but this is sort of a last resort as ive tried counseling, breathing groups and everlasting online research and just want to breathe normally. Im only ever conscious of my breathing when the dizziness and the muscle pains start. Thanks !
It creates a dizzy feeling and shaky legs, Luckily it is easily solved by calming down and slowing your breath or cupping your hands over your mouth when you breathe to regain lost C02.
Go on YT and search for Buteyko Breathing Exercises in 3 minutes by Patrick Mckeown. He explains this very good.
