This has never happen before but lately, my cheeks would be red after waking up. It just stays red for a few seconds/minutes and it goes away. It doesn't sting or anything. Last week, I had a rash on my red cheek and the following days, my cheeks were red and burning but now, my cheeks are only red after waking up. I also have developed dilated pores and these lines towards my nose when I smile, just all within a week. Also, I have a small blood vessel on my right cheek. I thought I have rosacea so I went to the hospital but they said I don't. He just told me to use Benadryl. I wash my face everyday so why do I have dilated pores, lines, and a blood vessel? I'm only 14 and I have some pimples on my forehead and that's it. Also, whenever I yawn or open my mouth wide (stretching my mouth) my cheeks hurts. Does anyone know why my cheeks are red when I wake up and why my pores are dilated, these lines are around my cheeks and nose, and blood vessel on my cheek? I'm really concern and I couldn't sleep at all. If you can help, please do so! Thank you!

Hello hamaiji,

It's possible that you have developed some form of sesativity to your pillow slip.  Some detergent is always left in the wash even if it has been rinsed several times.  I have problems with red areas and rashes on my face when I get up because of the soap.  If that's all it is, then benadryl is a good thing to use.  Benadryl is good for allergic responses.  It should help to prevent inflammation of your blood vessels and keep the redness down.  I guess you are a side or stomach sleeper since your cheeks are red.  What I do is sleep on my back and keep my face away from the pillow slip and I find that works well.  It took me a week to get used to sleeping on my back but now I feel comfortable with it.

Hello, guest.

There can be several reasons why your cheeks may appear red after sleeping, including:

1. Increased blood flow: During sleep, the body undergoes changes in blood flow, and the blood vessels in the face may dilate, causing the cheeks to appear red.

2. Sleeping position: Sleeping on your side or stomach can cause increased pressure on your face, leading to inflammation and redness.

3. Alcohol consumption: Drinking alcohol before bedtime can cause your blood vessels to dilate, leading to facial flushing and redness.

4. Rosacea: Rosacea is a common skin condition that can cause redness, flushing, and small bumps on the face.

To help reduce the redness, you can try the following:

Sleep on your back: Sleeping on your back can help reduce the pressure on your face and promote better blood flow.

Avoid alcohol: Avoiding alcohol consumption before bedtime can help reduce facial flushing and redness.

Use a cool compress: Applying a cool compress to your face can help reduce inflammation and redness.

Talk to your doctor: If the redness persists or is accompanied by other symptoms, it's important to consult with a doctor to rule out any underlying medical conditions like Rosacea.

When have you noticed this redness?
