well just to be sure take the meds first then maybe drink alcohol after 2- 3 hrs. just to be safe and good for ur liver too.

My girlfriend is on Azithromycin (and nothing else) due to an ear infection. Tonight we attended a wine festival. We both had three glasses of wine. I had to help her walk on the sidewalk on the way home to keep her from stumbling into traffic. Her motor skills were HIGHLY impaired. I can't say for sure that it was the drug, but it is the most recent variable that I see in her life.

It could be her organism being weakened by the dease. I double it was the drug.
I would also like to add that this thread has been very helpful. When trying my countries forums about this interaction I found only stupit, incompetent answers. I'm on this drug also but will be leaving for holidays to Egipt, where u need to dring after a meal no to get stomach problems.

Dear whoever-you-are,
Stop posting when you clearly have no science or medical background. Antibiotics, by definition, are drugs which target vital processes in BACTERIA that do not take place in EUKARYOTES, thereby selectively killing PROKARYOTIC (bacterial) cells. Yeast are eukaryotes just like us and will be unaffected by azithromycin or any other antibiotics for that matter.
PS. Alcohol is fine with zithromax.

Not sure if it was the "glasses" of wine, the "purple bud" I smoked or the vodka "chasers" I had but I've been on Azithromycin for the last four day and I'm very buzzed right now. =)

This was naughty but when I was doing my hospital based nurse training in Australia, we used to take the antibiotics but just double the dose and still kick on till the wee hours having fun. We figured the double dose would kill off the wog. Amazingly, it seemed to work. No one ever died and we had a great training period.
