Can you also tell them not to write it down in their notes or your file so you don't have a medical history of this what so ever?
Oh and 1 more thing to add* , not only that you've been using it, but you're having a lot of problems cause of the usage. *
Hi,
All Doctors are bound by a 'Hippocratic oath' they take to patient confidentiality. They are not aloud to discuss anything you mention during your consultation, There are rare exceptions when they are permuted to break this oath such as...
If you sign a waiver allowing them to discuss your medical history.
Threats of self harm/ or to harm a third party.
You can always say to your G.P that you wish to discuss something with him/her and want to confirm it will stay between you and them, not be disclosed to your parents.
Regarding the not keeping a note of it in your records. I'm not 100% but I think they have to make a note of it, your health records are there to help you so it may be useful to have a note of it, even if your worried about it now. If it's posed as a hypothetical question then I doubt it could be recorded even if your doctor was suspicious it was actually you the question was concerning, you could always approach it that way if you are worried about confidentiality. There are alternatives to contacting your doctor for help and advice with drug related issues. A drug agency should be able to advise and will have the same confidentiality as a doctor, often you can even ask them anonymously. They are used to people not wanting to disclose that aspect of their life, or be concerned parents will be involved.
