I have always wondered if girls and women masturbate as often as men do. I am a sex ed teacher and when we get into conversations about masturbation, the boys (men) have no problems discussing it and actually enjoy talking and bragging... Yet the ladies are shy, say they don't "need" to do it. I do know personally some women who admit to doing it, yet I have yet to hear a believable comment from a female. My psychologist teacher, with whom I discuss these things, told me that to her knowledge and all she has read - that women will masturbate until they die. I don't feel that anyone is comfortable talking about that unless with close friends. Men feel that it is "embarrassing" and unmanly to "jerkoff" if you have a steady relationship.

For a woman masturbation is a way to relax, enjoy herself, get to know her body, feel good, feel less stressed, etc, just like for a man. I read some studies that said that women masturbate a bit less often than men, but they still do it, and in all age groups as well.
The thing is, masturbation is private, so not everyone is going to talk about their masturbation habits, even less so than their sex life with a partner, because of the taboo aspect of it. Just because someone says she doesn't masturbate doesn't mean it is true. You probably have an easier time finding people online than in real life being honest about masturbation.
