Ok,

I've been drinking heavily for 20+yrs (ouch!) I have developed quite a tolerance. I drink beer - maybe 6-12 per night 4 or 5 nights per week.

I get tired of being tired and take a day off a couple of times a week. I feel so refreshed and able after a day off and a good 10hr sleep. I can do what I used to be able to do. I've known I was an alcoholic for ~ the last 20 yrs, but I used to be able to function when I chose to - now I'm tired more than I used to be and have so much to do - working, running a business and finishing a graduate degree.

I thought I'd look into withdrawl symptoms as I never noticed them before - I knew of a hangover but that always involved a headache, nausea, loss of appetite - now I wake with sweats and no headache & nerver tingling... I don't drink for a day and the next day I feel great.

I'v recently read a lot about withdrawl and cravings - I don't really think I have cravings - I think it's more habit - I can't imagine what a craving would feel like.

I'm afraid of seizures - I read that you can feel normal'ish and then have a seizure in the 48 hr period after stopping.

My usual drinking pattern is after work 6-12 beers and sleep 8 hrs - if I had 12 beers I wouldn't drink the next day - if I had 6 I probably would.

Should I be afraid of not drinking for 48 hrs???
Regular exercise may help relieve withdrawal symptoms. Instead of drinking like you used to, work out at a gym until you are tired, and then go home and sleep.
