Hello, I am new to posting on the net but I am desperate for support and suggestions. I have read posts related to the challenge of weight gain while on antidepressant meds. Does anyone has any solution focused answers???I have been on meds for nearly 10 yrs. Thus far I have tried each one and the weight gain is awful. I am 5'5" AND NOW 4 POUNDS FROM OBESITY.I exercise vigorously for about one hour a day and eat very healthy. Even before I took meds I was very committed to my health due to my family history. I am 44 and my dad died at 50. My mother is very ill with many health issues. I have not had any grandparents live past 45. Oh ya one was 60-he died of alcoholism. I spoke with two dieticians on the advice of my MD. They both told me that my diet was healthier than 99% of people. I actually teach nutrition education . I tried to go off meds several times and use holistic means but it was so unbearable. I accept I need meds but no one seems to take me serious about the weight gain. I am now getting more and more depressed. I now know exactly why so many people opt to go off of them even when it is the key to their sanity. Help!!! Karen
Our stories are almost identical!!!! To have to sit and decided upon mental health or physical health is awful!!! There has to be an answer!
