My eleven year old daughter started having a bad discharge over a year ago. When we visited our family doctor concerning this, I was told that she was probably fixing to start her period. Well, it has been a year now and she still continues to have this discharge. This happens on a daily basis. She has had some health problems that have appeared within the last 8 months that I believe may be related to an increase in hormones...

1.) Chronic Gastritis, Chronic Constipation, Slow digestive system...
2.) Had surgery in May 06 to remove a suspicious mole from the bottom of her foot because it had signs of melanoma. (was benign)
3.) Tumor on limbus of eye (Biopsy scheduled in 1 week)
4.) Musculoskeletal disorder, unknown cause

She has had no major health problems before this. Should I continue to wait for her period or should I schedule her an appointment for a pap-smear? I haven't mentioned this to our family doctor since her initial visit because of the other health problems we have been dealing with.

Thank you for your time,
Concerned mother of 3 wonderful children
I've had my discharge for 2 and a half years.

I had discharge since I was 11. No period till I turned 13. The discharge is still there, but increasingly less as my menstrual cycle got used to it.

Im a 4th year resident working in a pediartic urology clinic and i think you should talk to your primary care physician and have him refer you to a GYN just to check for any problems... a pediatric endocrinologist is the next step after that.. i don't want to give too much advice without having seen your daughter personally... good luck.

im 11 years old and I've been having discharge for about half a year and I just searched this because I wasn't sure if it was normal for11 year olds to have discharge but I guess it is!

You should see a doctor if it burns, it might be a bladder infection. But dont worry about it. The doctor may just give you a few pills to take and you will be done, so tell your mother and doctor and you should be alright. Discharge never really goes away but as you get older it will become less frequent

Girls- it is norml to have discharge-it is your body cleaning itself-just wear pantyliners.

some will have more discharge than others-this is perfectly normal.

however if you have burning then tellyour mother and see the doctor you might have a slight bladder infection- donot worry.

I'm 11 and I'm scared to tell my parents. At first I didn't think it was normal untill my friend told me about something. I looked it up and well I think it's discharge. My stepmom told me that I may not start me pied till I'm 14 because I'm 4.3 ft and only weigh 57 pounds. What do I do with out telling my parents
