I'm a regular 14 year old guy, around 125 lbs. I work my abs with crunches and sit ups daily for about 16 months now. And yet nothing shows. I have learned that there exists a layer of fat blocking it. Can someone help suggest methods to burn this and/or any good ab exercises?

You need to start weight training. Crunches and situps are very light toning exercises that are unlikely to produce any observable results. Weight training increases you lean muscle mass over your entire body, including your abs. Muscles are much more metabolically active than fat. The more muscle you have, the more calories you burn even when you are at rest. You are at an age when weight training will produce the most profound results.
