Hi,

So here's my story. I was on bc pills to regulate my period and prevent me from getting prego of course. I was never regular and very irregular..hence the pills. I got off the pills Jan of 2012 (so almost a yr now). Aftwerward I got my period on the regular for about 2 months then it started to act up and back and forth but I do get my period (granted it's not on the regular). However, lately in June and July i started spotting for a couple of days ranging from pink to brown (test came negative). So, August came and no period but i did feel some sort of cramps. September came and On the 7th I spotted a tiny red/pink when i wiped and  it was gone. No period and now it's almost the end of October and still nothing. I tested Sep 29th and 30th but it's both negative. What's going on???

Dear HelpPlease, ok, so first take a deep breath...now exhale...good...now let me start by saying that birth control pills will have you on a regular and predictable cycle, so when you stop taking them it puts that responsibility back on your body's natural functions. Not every woman will respond the same to that challenge. Research shows that the average is 4-6 weeks, some take three to six months for their cycles to be normal for them. It also depends on the type and strength of birth control you were using. A stronger form may take longer than a weaker dosage, as the body will have to correct for a larger gap of hormone replacement. If you are concerned about pregnancy it might be wise to test every two weeks until you get your next period, or spotting, then you will be able to predict when your next period should be. I found a lot of information on web-sites dedicated to the effects of birth control, it might help ease your mind if you look up the brand and strength of yours and see what to expect. I hope this was helpful, and gave you a little peace of mind. Good luck!

thank you so much blonde_inc. The brand i was taking was called Trinessa. Back in Feb or March went to see my dr and she told me i was pregnant from examing my pelvic but when i got my blood test done it showed negative. I went back for another blood test but it was to test for any irregularity in my hormones and such. Everthing came back normal. I am hoping that I am pregnant since we are ttc. But thank you so much for taken the time to respond to my question :)
