i'm a 33 yr old male and have suffered from hemorrhoids for more than 18 years. Ive been to a few doctors along the way and have tried everything to relieve the pain , including the elastic band method ( what a waste of time ),,and was bleeding the next day!! i was told by doctors there was nothing i could do and just to live with them,,,because even if i had surgery the odds are they'd be back!!! 5 years past since the elastic band procedure and the bleeding has spiraled out of control and now i was experiencing extreme pain for about 8 hrs after a BM. After a visit to my primary doctor and some routine blood work, i was told i was borderline anemic and had to take 2 iron pills a day, all because of the hemorrhoids! i decided that enough was enough and i seeked out another doctor. As i hopped on the table and got into that dreaded position, he began his examination with a blood curdling scream! I bled all over finger the moment he inserted it and he said i was so tight he barely could perform the exam!! He told me that i was suffering from a fissure as well as hemorrhoids and that the muscle was so tight around the sphincter because its been compensating for the pain all these years! I was scheduled for surgery the next week! After the surgery the doctor told me that he removed 2 of the 3 hemorrhoids because the anus has only 7 or so veins and if u remove too many, u could be left with no feeling down there and you'd sh*t yourself! he also stitched up the fissure and removed muscle from around the sphincter!! The moment i woke up,,the pain was almost unbearable! I ve had my foot crushed by a 9 ton forklift and came close to amputation,,and that pain didnt come close to the pain i experienced for the next week!! and my doctor was not very giving when it came to asking for something stronger than vicodine!! I knew that the pain was going to bad but i was not prepared for it to be this bad! it took 7 days to pass my 1st BM, and it was ridiculous! I actually ripped the top off my vanity during the movement!! as the weeks passed the bowel movements got a little easier (metimucil is key along with stool softners). I'm entering my sixth week post-op and im still out of work! I'm still experiencing discomfort after a BM and the doc told me this was still normal in some cases because all the work that was done in there! Up until today, i felt like i was getting better a little every day,,,,then i had my 2nd BM of the day which produced a lot of bood!!!! I havent talked to my doctor yet, but i'm assuming that the culprit is the 3rd roid that he didnt want to take out!!! I hope to God that he followed protocol about leaving the 3rd one in there. If i have to go back and do this evil surgery all over again because he didnt just take the damn thing out,,,i'm not going to a very pleasant person to be around!!!!!
