Like the title says, I quit oxycontin cold turkey (not fun) nine days ago. I was tired of it being in my system around the clock making me sluggish and unambitious. Also, my pain was decreasing just out of nowhere it seemed. I tried to call to switch to a PRN med, but cant until my appt this week. I have lived with dorsal scapular nerve compression for about 3 years, progressively getting worse.

Now I am over the withdrawals and there is less back pain now than there was when I was taking it!!! I read that neuropathic pain is caused sometimes by slight withdrawals as pain meds begin to decrease in your system. Also, I have been taking B-complex supplements which I read are good for treating neuropathic pain.

My question...have any of you experienced this | and, did the pain come back? I hope my pain doesnt come back like it was. This is the best I have felt in years. :-D
klopper22,

All I can tell you is that I was told a story by my minister of when his mom was on that and she was having so much pain for many years. The doctors could not figure out what was her problem until on day they came to the same conclusion and they took her off her meds slowly. When she stopped the pain meds all together her pain stopped.

They determined or her family did, I don't know which, that the pain meds were causing pain. I do not remember the reason given to me but it did sound real. So yes I heard of it but do not know any more on the subject.

I would also like to hear more on the subject of "Pain meds causing the pain" if anyone knows anything.
