I've had ulcerative colitis from the age of 13. At 40 I had a total colectomy (17 years ago) which went bad and had to have another medical agency reroute things. I am in the bathroom over 30 times a day and use lots of Desitin. I do get a little relief from having a Codeine Sulfate prescription....my problem is a mystery to all my doctors and I don't really want to have colostomy again.
I have been leaking 'I don't know what' all these years from my rectum which burns terribly and makes it difficult to walk at times.
My question: What happens to the stomach acid without having a colon? Is that what is leaking which causes terrible pain and makes me bleed after cleansing myself.
Thank you,
Schneidee

My son had this surgery and I am sorry that I am not sure what leaks, but we have bought a bidet for our toilet that I am not sure if that sounds lke something you would want, but it helps his rectum SO MUCH. They have ones that hook right up to your toilet and it works really well. Also, we take regular flour and put it in a frying pan and cook it, with nothing else, until it turns brown and put that on his butt with the purple Desitine, the more Zinc Oxide the better. The flour really helped clear the sores off his butt after surgery. The sore butt has been the worst. I hope that this can bring you at least a little comfort. Good luck and take care!
