I had an aspiration abortion performed on the 6th of January, a little over two weeks ago.I was tense during the procedure. Would that affect accuracy?
I will not be able to make my followup appt because I am a college student and I had the procedure performed at home, but I am in school at the moment out of state. How important is the followup? I feel very bad for not being able to make it.
I have not had any extreme symptoms. I cramped the 1st night, light bleeding for a few days, it stopped, and the bleeding started back (still light) last week and stopped again after a couple of days. Besides consistently having gas since the procedure, nothing has been out of the ordinary. I am currently taking the pill, and have decided to practice abstinence. How worried should I be? Could there still be tissue?
(I would not be able to call the clinic because they have a strict privacy code and keep no records)
:-(
Hi francescalily,

You need a followup. If you can't get back to your clinic then go to one near your college and tell them why. Yes, there could still be tissue that's part of why the followup is done. If there is any tissue it could get infected. Infection could besides making you ill could cause scarring which may lead to fertility issues later on.

I can't stress enough the need for a followup. It should be fairly quick but you need to get it done, sooner rather than later.

Hope it helps.
