I had unprotected sex on sept. 5th and the last time i had my period was early august. Normaly my period is regular, but i still havent had it. In october and november i had 2 days of very very light bleeding. Ive taken 2 home pregnancy tests and went to a walk in clinic and had a urine test, and then later went to a different clinic and took a blood test. All of the tests have come out negative, for the blood test my level was 2. Im just wondering how accurate the blood tests are?
The blood tests are very reliable. Hcg levels rise very rapidly once you become pregnant.
A reading of less than 5 usually means you are not pregnant. It should be over 100 by your first missed period and 8 weeks later it should be up to at least 30,000.
With the blood test results and the urine test results, I don't believe you are pregnant.
Stress and illness can affect your period. Since your period does appear to have changed I would suggest you make an appointment with your gynecologist for a thorough exam. Tell the doctor everything, not just that you think you might be pregnant, but about the periods as well. You could possibly have an infection or something else might be going on.
Hope it helps.
