I'm a 26 year old male and been experiencing hemorrhoid since I was 12 years old. It all started as prolapsed internal hemorrhoids which will go back in itself after bowel movement. Couple years later and it started to get worst and I have to force myself to have a bowel movement at night, bed rest for one night and it will go back itself. Starting in 2004, the hemorrhoids no longer goes back in and I have to push it back in with a finger. I was in miserly everyday when going to the bathroom because the hemorrhoid will fall out and I have to push it back in. My life has been severely affected and I have to change my life style to cope with it. Back in September 2010, the symptom keep getting worst and finally 3 days ago, the hemorrhoid can no longer be push it back in. I rush to the hospital Monday to see the doctor. The nurse came in and measured my blood pressure, wow it is 183/130. She asked me do you have history of high blood pressure. I told her when you are in extreme pain and you have normal blood pressure, then you are not normal. She stepped out and the doctor walked in after couple minutes. He took at look at it was shocked of how big and swollen it became. It's about 2/3 size of a fist. He immediately call in a general surgeon and take a look at it. The surgeon looked at it and discussed with the colonrectal department. After laying on the bed flat for hour, finally the surgeon told me it is possible to have anything done on it today because it is too swollen. So he put some anesthesia on to a cloth, numb it and then inject more anesthesia and then push it back in. Couple minutes later, it came out again and he push it back in again. He told me you have to keep the thing inside because it will get squeezed by your splinter muscle and the blood circulation will be cut off, causing you pain and swelling. He did not even prescribed me any medicine except stool softer which I told him my stool is already soft because I been drinking alot of water and eating alot of fiber. I'm not overweight and I been eating very healthy for the past 6 months. He just send me home with stool softener and some pain killer which I asked. It has been 3 days already and my swelling is not going down. I asked for my surgeon to move the hemorrhoids but he told me it is not a good option because if you removed the internal hemorrhoids while they are swelling, it can cause anal stenosis narrowing of your rectum and will make passing stool extremely difficult. It is between a grade 3 and grade 4 so he suggest me to wait couple days and check back with him. Most likely he will try rubber band and see how it does. I have kaiser permanente for my health insurance and it is co-pay, I only have to pay $20-35 per visit and it makes me feel like they are trying to cut down the cost instead of giving me a better solution. Yesterday kaiser called me back and schedule for another appointment to see a surgeon, the same one push my hemorrhoids back in this Friday. But instead, I asked for a colon rectal surgeon and I can't see him until January 31st. In the mean time, what do you guys recommend me to do. I should of have this problem taken care earlier but I have no medical insurance when I was young and I just switched to the co-pay about couple months ago. I was still in the progress of paying back my student loans and keep my living up. I was planning to finish this month, tell my boss to have a 1 month vacation and then get this problem taken care of which I paid off my student loan and have enough money in my bank to cover the expense. All of a sudden it got worst and my boss is calling me everyday, asking and see if I can get back to work some how. I feel depressed and hopeless... :'(
