i got the same problem. but i find if i smoke a little bit of marijuana it helps a million. just like with cancer patents they are given a medication witch has really bad nausea as a side affect and then treat that nausea with another pill. doctors have proven that a little marijuana helps the nausea instantally and costs a fraction the price all the meds do. just something to think about.

PS. you dont need alot seariusly vary little will help a million

I used to be able to handle a lot of drink for my small size. I'm 36 now and for about 10 yrs I have suffered severally with hangovers.
I can drink and feel fairly together at the end of a night out even if my friends are falling about, but the next day I pay! Sometimes I won't start vomiting/diarrhea til 5pm but then it is relentless. I can't hold anything down and feel like I'm dying. The whole day is wasted. Usually ending in puking bile.
I want to be able to let my hair down without being punished.
Can anyone help?

I don't have the problem of throwing up yellow liquid but the smallest amount of alcohol gives me night sweats, severe shakes, stomach problems, my heart pounds, and if I consume more than say 2 beers I'm laid out on the couch for most of the next day. I could have a drink with lunch, drink a lot of water afterwards, and go to bed 8 or 9 hours later and I'd still be miserable.

In college I weighed about 15-20 more pounds than I do now and had very little problem drinking. My rare nights out sometimes included a couple of rum and cokes and I was fine the next day. Now it feels like even the smell of alcohol leaves me shaking and my heart pounding. I wish, like many of you, there was a solution to this problem mainly because I'm usually stuck ordering soda or water while everyone else are drinking cocktails.

I also have the same issue... I'm trying to find out why as well, but it seems we are all spinning our wheels. When I went to the dr, she though that I was having gall bladder issues. I got screened but there were no stones... very strange though that she went there b/c my mother and sister both had their gall bladders removed. I wonder if there is some connection between the liver processing alcohol causing the gallbladder to over excrete bile causing vomitting? I use to be a big drinker when I was younger... calmed down only to get sick now. =\ I originally thought it was a yeast allergy (also something in my family) because I was only originally throwing up beer, but now its moving into liquor too... I'm quite upset and confused... pretty sick of getting sick... sometimes its all day and sometimes its once for like an hour and then its over... kinda sux... Anyone figures it out... lemme know... I still think it has something to do with my gall bladder though.

Wow, let's all just state that we have the same problem over and over again and maybe then we'll find a solution. Give a goddamn answer! The reasons I have found are Type 2 Diabetes, Hypoglycemia and Cirrhosis of the Liver (scarring). These along with others, could cause what you're describing

IN SUMMARY: There is no solution, we don't have the technology!!

You have to stop drinking until there is one, there is nothing wrong with you - it is genetic, if you stop drinking you stop feeling sick - it has happened to me too. I don't drink anymore - its tough but at least you can still go out!

You can also get over the non drinker issues - tip - Man I don't really like booze, give me some ex or lsd and Im there. Of course I do neither

Is there seriously no one that can provide a definitive answer for this? I've been having this problem for years now. There have been periods of weeks to months after having a couple drinks where I puke every day, mutilple times a day.. I thought it was a really bad Flu that kept coming back again and again for a long time, and I got no proper explanation from my doctor. They always thought it was a viral infection and would tell me I have to just wait until it goes away

It never happens until the morning though. I don't have to get drunk, 1 or 2 beers is enough to ruin the next few days.

I get the severe heart pounding, shaking, hot and cold sweats, vomitting so extreme that i've nearly choked to death several times from inhaling small bits of bile.

One question I'd like to ask, how many of the people having these problems has taken Anti-depressants in the past? My friend who used to take the same anti-depressants has the exact same problem as me, and we think it may have something to do with that. The problems seemed to start shortly after I discontinued 6 years of taking anti depresants.

I am a fairly small guy, but I used to be able to drink more than all my friends who were much bigger. It's really sad, because I get nervous really easy, and alcohol was the only thing that relaxed me. It's really hard for me to go hang out with my friends now.. I'm a total loner now because of it

I'm planning on seeing my doc again in a few days, I'm gonna mention getting a UGI scan, HIDA scan like someone else suggested in this post, as well as testing for Diabetes, Hypoglycemia and Cirrhosis of the liver. If anyone knows anything else I should get checked for, please, PLEASE let me know.. I really can't keep living like this.. it's the most horrible feeling in the world

I never took anti-depressants in my life.
Maybe we should all post here symptoms/habits/etc that we think that are somehow unusual and might be related to our next-day-super-hangover. Maybe this way we can find the a pattern...
For example, in my case:
- I smoke tobacco a lot (about 30 cigarettes/day)
- seems to happen more often after drinking beer, but one time happened after drinking vodka
- I have no problems I know of with liver: on "normal" tests everything seems ok; no hepatitis.
- on many blood tests the iron level was pretty high (without explanation from doctors)
- I have headaches often (no drinking)

Hi everyone, I don't have the problem of throwing up but like most people on here, I used to drink pretty heavily through my teens and early 20's. About 4 years ago, I got drunk one night on an empty stomach, ate a sandwich before bed, and woke up a few hours later feeling like I was gonna die. These are my symptoms, and they are more severe the more I drink:

-stomach burns
-hollow empty feeling in stomach
-nausea
-diarhhea
-fast, pounding heartbeat
-cold spells, shivering
-weak, wobbly legs

I literally feel like I'm poisoned and going to die. It used to be that anything more than 3 drinks and this would happen, and less than 3 I was fine. Last summer I went out and had 3 beers over several hours thinking it was no problem. A few hours later, I was sick as hell. since then, its now down to even sometimes getting like this from 1 drink. My friends don't understand and my social life totally sucks now. I went from party girl, to designated driver. The effed up thing is that I don't even care to get drunk anymore, I just want to have a few drinks if I choose without suffering horribly for it. All of you know how this feels, but I don't know anyone else personally who has experienced this and I feel totally alone, angry, depressed sometimes. And can't find an answer.

I have also been to the doctor. He just tells me not to drink if it bothers me. Wow, thanks doc! In my search for answers, I have been diagnosed with IBS and went through having the UGI and the colonoscopy and they found nothing other than "spastic colon" (IBS).

What drives me the most crazy, besides the complete social hinderance, is that nobody can give me answers and I desperately want to know what changed in my body suddenly to make this happen to me? Obviously something changed, and doctors could care less about helping me find an answer. I've asked my family doc and my gastroenterologist.

I'm turning 30 in 6 mnths and going to a resort in Mexico with friends. Now that its getting closer, all I can think about is how sad and left out I'm going to be to watch everyone else drink all day and night while I'm stone cold sober on MY birthday. Totally freakin sucks man. I just want to have 3 or 4 drinks - that's not even close to what I used to drink!!!

I don't have an answer for anyone, just venting and hoping that maybe others will read this that have the same symptoms as me with some advice. If I ever find the reason, I will be sure to post it all over the internet!!! I'm really sorry for all of us experiencing this. Its beyond frustrating.

I know what you mean about doctors not caring.. I tell them drinking causes me to feel like I'm going to die, severe illness for days if not weeks after, and all they say is "don't drink".

Wow, thanks for the advice you douche-bag doctors. How about a reason for what is causing the problem? There has obviously been a huge change in my body to cause this problem.

This has ruined my social life. My doc thought I had H.Pylori, which I tested negative for. I asked him what other tests he could do for me, and he said "Like what?" . How the hell am I supposed to know what to test for, I'm the patient in distress, and my doc is asking ME what I should be tested for? He's the doctor, he should know.

I'm getting very upset about this whole situation. It seems like no one cares about this problem that has ruined my life for the last few years.

If it's some sort of problem processing the actual alcohol, then I wonder how many other things my body is not processing properly? Alcohol would probably be one of the few substances that would cause severe distress like those described when not properly broken down. I don't really know though.

I am 18 years old and had this exact problem this winter. After one heavy night of drinking I found myself in agony the next morning puking yellow fluid (probably bile). After two weeks I experienced the very same thing and I started to get worried. The good news is that after two months of sobriety I slowly went back to drinking again without any hardships whatsoever. The bad news is that last week my problems started to re-appear, although somewhat milder. Next week I am going to the doctor to try and find some clarity and I am interested to know if anyone else has experienced this problem coming and going in cycles?

I have the exact same problem.... and nothing seems to explain what causes this! I'm worried that my liver isn't able to handle poisons, but I don't know... I just hope it's not some sort of symptom to something more worrying. I'm fine with stopping drinking ( I don't have a choice! If I get buzzed, I can't function for at least a day, if I get drunk, it's sometimes two days! ) I vomit yellow stuff ( bile? ) I feel extremely weak, I get hot flashes, cold spells... I find what works though to get rid of it... When I get strong enough to eat (the sooner the better) I vomit and when my stomach is empty of the bile I eat, it needs to be right after... I sometimes vomit again after, but that's the final puke, I can eat after that and slowly recover. It's like it's the BILE that's iritating my stomach, which makes me think that something isn't working right, because bile doesn't seem to belong in my stomach!
Anyways... when someone finds something out... it'll be apreciated. I'm glad I'm not alone.

Please someone find an answer to this!! It seems like I've come across this site the same as the rest. I was an early drinker and used to be able to drink a whole lot. Now just before my 21st, yes that early, I find that I can't drink without terrible repercussions the next day. Last night I had a fair amount, was completely (or close to it) in control, didn't black out or throw up at all. Then this morning, I started a 5 hour vomit marathon! Couldn't keep a single thing down, but brought up plenty of bile (gross.) Had the cold sweats, green-tinged complexion and everything. I also have acid reflux which is probably a major factor.

I'd really like to know if there's something I can do to help. I don't drink often, but would like to not feel like death after I do it.

Like most of you who have also commented, I feels good to know I'm not the only one who suffers from this!

This site is bookmarked for me now, knowing that there are people out there like me.
Rather than go into lengthy detail of my accounts which are not much different than many posted here, I'd thought I'd add some information.

Anyone try taking Pepcid AC one hour before imbibing on alcohol?
Supposedly this helps with the red symptoms of alcohol flush reactions...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alcohol_flush_reaction

If you are already past the point of no return (the switch has been flipped and your in cold sweats, you puke your stomach til it fatigues and you make that promise your not going to drink ever again (but you also know thats a lie), take two large table spoons of Maalox or 1.5 tablespoons of the stuff at extra strength. This will calm your stomach down to the point where you can fall asleep and not wake up every 20-40 minutes to vomit [but I have a feeling this only works after you had your initial vomit [which pushes out all the food, water and most of the liquor you drank - which could not be digested].
