so you have no problems at all with drinking alcohol with your gallbladder out? That seems pretty hopeful, I mean I am having mine removed 8-13-14 I don't drink all the time but I do enjoy a nice cold beer or two,.it's just nice to hear at least a different outcome. Have you had any other changes was your diet before and now

I agree with this message! Everyone is different. I had my gallbladder removed a little over a year, and don't have problems with drinking other than feeling bloated with beer. The one thing I did notice is that those who recently had this done, had fewer side effects. Perhaps times have changed and the surgeon's are doing something different... I don't know just thought I'd point that out.

I just recently had my gallbladder taken out in April 2015 and now everytime I drink I have shooting pain where it was and I can't handle it as well as I used to. Also I have hangovers even if I take a couple shots and I have never had hangovers previous to my surgery. It sort of scares me.

Guess I'll add my "me too" to the list. I had my Gallbladder taken out in 2011 and I could drink quite a bit. Sure, I'd have a hangover, but nothing too punishing. Now? Three beers and I am guaranteed a terrible day following. I guess it's a good thing in a sense, because I was a pretty heavy drinker before surgery. Now? I Just drink for taste and to socialize, not to get drunk.

Always helpful to have a large glass of water in between drinks, and when finished, as much water as you can before going to bed (but not so where you pee yourself!). This helps, but the hangover is still pretty brutal.

I get the same issues you do. I had my gallbladder removed in 2009. I push the envelope and always get sick. Well the other night I drank a bottle of wine. I have been vomitting and terrible diarrhea since. Same with you chills, sweats etc. After 7 yrs I have realized that I can no longer drink. It's not worth the hell I go thru afterwards.

OMG.. So glad I found this post. I had 3 beers last night.. after eating a full dinner.. and I couldn't even think straight. I felt completely drunk as if I drank a whole bottle of hard liquor. I couldn't think straight, couldn't remember login for my phone. I was a complete mess. I guess drinking is going to be off the table for me now. I don't ever want to feel that impaired again. That was it for me. Hot tea next time!

I had gall bladder surgery sept 2016. I have never been a big drinker but I could handle a few drinks. Since having my gall bladder removed, I get drunk from 1/2 drink and will have a four day hangover. If I drink more than 2 drinks, I will get nauseous and have vomited. Thank everyone for these comments. I thought I was the only one.

I had my Gallbladder moved about 18 months ago and had a number of serious complications which resulted in more surgeries. When I finally recovered, I had found that I simply cannot tolerate alcohol in any quantities at all. It is as if my body quit filtering it from my blood and even two beers over a couple of hours can make me feel and act intoxicated. What in the world happened???

I have mine removed and I have to drink a fruity drink so I can't taste or smell the liquor and that work pretty well

I had my gallbladder removed about a year and a half ago, before that, I could drink large amounts of alcohol. Now whenever I drink, it seems that I can only handle 10-12 beers until I puke. I wish I could drink like how I used to.

I can only have three or four drinks before I feel intoxicated. No hangover though just feel alcohol rushes into my system quicker. In my case I prefer it this way as I drink less.Remember your digestion is still adapting and can take a long time. See it as a blessing and limit or avoid alcohol.
