My husband has survived a car crash and is in the hospital waiting for the surgery. His leg is severely damaged, otherwise he is fine. Doctors mentioned they would use propofol as general anesthetic and I wonder if there is any alternative to that? I mean, I have heard that he exact mechanism of how propofol works is not known. I don’t want anything else to happen to him.
You really don’t have anything to worry about. Even though we use tons of medications in the world daily, we do not know how they actually work. The important thing is that they do work and help, and that is something to focus on. Also, I am not so sure that you will find the exact mechanism of functioning for other anesthetics.
