Amiodarone is a very nasty drug, with life threatening side effects. It can effect lungs, liver, and thyroid. My sister recently spent a week on life support, after a lung biopsy to determine what was wrong with her. She was diagnosed with Pulmonary Fibrosis, induced by the Amiodarone. If you do not know what that is, the tissue of your lungs start to harden. It is irreversible. And on another note, Amiodarone has a half-life of 6-12 months after you stop taking it. And in this time, it can still be doing damage to your organs. For me, there is NOTHING this drug can do that is worth the life threatening risks it presents.
I am concerned at the very biased nature of this thread and would urge anyone taking amiodarone to speak to their doctor before stopping it.

amiodarone like any other drug has side effects and use of it has to be based on weighing up the benefits / risks. it can be a life saving medication and to stop taking it without medical advice would be very risky.

to the pp, I am very sorry to hear of your sisters ill health and wish her a speedy recovery, however I would ask you to consider the consequences of such posts on the general public who may be easily scared by a story such as this. there are ways and means of expressing your concern without scaremongering.
