I have had these cramps since I was a teenager.  They may go away for years and then come back again.  Over a period of years, I've discovered a way to stop the cramping in less than a minute.  This at least works for me.

Keep a fleet enema bottle handy.  Fill the enema bottle with warm water.  Lay on your back and prop your legs up against a wall.  Administer the warm water enema and hold it in while doing some pelvic thrusts.  I do about 120, but the pain subsides long before that.  Expel the water and you should be good to go.

Me too. I thought I was reading about myself. Happened after menopause and after climax. It's weird. Dr can't help us. I'm going to try sitting on the tennis ball next time. Or Advil works good too. From Pam

Well Im very relieved I found this thread.

I always tell my wife I get an intense pain in my anus after a strong orgasm.

A tleast now I know there's nothing wrong with me. It aches quite badly for about 20~30 minutes then goes away.

I'm not bi or anything, but wonder if sticking one of my wife's dildos up my anal passage would help the cramping?

Hello I have had this condition since I was in 1st grade. I never talked about it I just thought it was normal. I am a 37yr old male as I got older the pain got worse to the point I would pass out in public places. As a male it's kind of embarrassing for us to talk about rectal pain. Fast forward to 2004 while I was in combat in Iraq I had a spasm late one night I wasn't on a mission and went outside I would always sit on my knees face on the ground hands behind my head heel tucked up into my rectum and try and sit as still as possible if I moved to soon it would start all over 30min to an hour of this. I was taken to cash and military docs said it was psychological. Fast forward to 2008 again in Iraq the pain was so intense docs sent me to balad Iraq and doctors couldn't figure it out. Finally I meet colonel Wu. He did a digital exam in 20sec he said you have levitor ani syndrome. I told him it happens at night wakes me from dead sleep or after ejaculation with in seconds or just out of nowhere. My spasms last anywhere from 30 min to hour or more. I have seen docs a Cleveland mayo clinic I have tried nerve meds and every pain med some of the stronger narcotics help but it's no way to live. The only thing I can say helps is to find a position that takes pressure off. Sometimes sitting on at pilot like your going to have a bowel movement helps for me it's laying on my knees in like a prayer state face on the ground the key is learning how to completely relax your lower body once you can learn to do that and control your breathing and relaxing you will find the spasm starts to subside a lot faster. The pain is unbearable at times and unfortunately there is no cure but it will go away just remember that and reassure yourself because the min feel like and eternity I know. I have these everyday sometimes up to 3 or more times a day.

I am a 40 year old male. I started getting these cramps after fast ejaculations. It never occurs during a more prolonged sexual sessions. Sitting on the toilet or pushing up hard with two fingers between m anus and scrotum and massaging the internal cramping area seems to help. I now try to prolong any ejaculation to prevent the cramps.

I'm a 27 year old male and have been battling rectal spasms after sex for the past year. The spasms are so bad that I feel the only way to relieve the pain is to deficate. I break out into a sweat and sometimes feel like I could pass out. I end up turning white as a ghost and my wife has to bring a floor fan into the bathroom. Most of the posts I have been reading are spasms unrelated to sex. The spasms don't occur everytime, but most of the time and are extremely painful. Any suggestions?

48yr old male here. I have had these cramps since my 20s. I dont get them after every orgasm but they are most likely to occur at night if i orgasm in bed and then go to sleep. I have found that sitting on the toilet can help. It must stretch the area. But the best remedy I have is to sit on the floor, bring your knees to your chest and your feet as close to your butt as you can. You might have to wrap your arms around your knees to hold in that tight position. Just hold it till the cramp subsides. Sometime i fel it starts to go and then comes back but then it will eventually ease. So this is a form of stretching also I think. So not have an orgasm in bed before sleep is one way of avoiding it but thats also a common time. So i have found doing that stretch or something like it straight after the orgasm can help. Even simply laying on your back and drawing your feet up to your butt. Do this for 10 -15 mins and that may avoid the problem or make it less common altogether. Anyway. Hopefully my experience can help someone.

Muscles have an involuntary reflex.  It's called, wittingly enough, muscle reflex.  When you have one cramp that hurts, the muscles contract to protect themselves, hence causing further cramping.  The answer is simple.  Mind over matter.  You have to consciously relax your muscles.  It may not help at first but keep intentionally relaxing until they subside.  Problem solved.

Years ago, when I searched for an answer to this problem, there was nothing. At least now I know other people have this problem. I have been having these cramps/spasms for twenty plus years (I am a guy in my forties), mostly after intense sex, but also after dealifting. Rarely, it even just seems to come out of nowhere. Walking seems to help, both during an episode and as a lifestyle choice. Doing pushups always seems to make it a little better too...may e it's moving all that blood to the upper body? As others have said, finding a good position is important, often sitting on a ball. I like an earlier poster's advice: relax the rectal/anal muscles during sex. I am going to try that. I would not wish this pain on anyone.

Glad I am not alone...happens to me too. Just happened after self induced

climax...so much for a quick one then drifting off to sleep..walkin around didn't help . I ended up kneeling on the floor with my butt up in the air leaned onto the seat of my couch..15 minutes and finally some relief. Thirty year old female here. Thanks for the comments...was wondering why this was happening..makes sense..tightening muscles being the issue. Will relax more next time.

I visited my doctor and he checked my prostate and he put me on a course of worming tablets. Didn't happen again for years after that....I mean YEARS!! Sadly it has happened again tonight so I am going to go get some worming tablets again. We're all supposed to do it annually but we forget... Worms!

I too have had this problem for many years after sex.  Tried everything until finding I get immediate relief by using very warm water in an enema bottle.  Within 5 minutes I'm good.

I get this all the time. It is so random too. There is a way to get rid of it when it happens. Here are the steps: 1. Grab your right knee and pull it toward your left shoulder. You should feel your buttock muscle stretching. 2. Push your leg straight down toward the floor. Continue pulling your knee to shoulder while doing this. You will feel your buttock muscle flex/stretch even more. 3. Hold the flex for about 15 to 20 seconds. Do this 2 times. If you do not feel any relief, switch sides and follow the ssame instructions. If this brings relief, continue the process until the cramp is gone. Give a few seconds between flexes also. This is one of the worst pains I have ever felt in my life. My teeth chatter uncontrollably when it happens and I have even passed out a few times from the pain. I hope this helps some of you out. Good luck! Isaiah
