Escitalopram as its called and prescribed in spain. This is a drug given to people suffering anxiety and or depression. In Spain it is usually prescribed with some heavy duty tranquilisers. Im not a doctor so I cant say why that is.
OK This drug and variations of the same is not a mild thing. It will alter brain function, which should eleviate the symptoms. I noticed some odd side effects, during the 6 months I was on it.
1). No more migraines, which I had suffered from before I started the course.
2). Most bizzare was the fact that I have been T total most of my adult life as just a sniff of any alchohol caused me to have hangover like symptoms. Half a larger or a wine and I was ill for days. Not while on this drug, probably shouldnt have, but I did get very drunk several times and loved the sensation particularly as I had zero hangover the next day.
3). Down side after about 4 weeks I completely lost my libedo. Completely.
OK I came off after 6 months by reducing my dose from 20mg to 10 to 5 daily over the coiurse of a month.
Symptoms now are, I cant take alcohol again at all (Damn). I have got my libedo back (Yeah) I feel lightheaded and dizzy all the time. Have what I can only describe as a fuzzy feeling at the back of my skull.
Was my use of this drug necessary, I have to admit it probably was, do I want to go on it ever again. NO NO NO. with the exception of finding out why my wife and friends enjoy drinking, its been all negative.
Anyone else find this drug has strange side effects?
