Hi, I am 19 years old boy and have acne vulgaris. I try to keep my face clear by using cleansing lotion twice a day; I use powder for pimples to dry them up. I will start to use Minocyclin but I would like to get more information regarding it’s usage. A friend of mine used Minocyclin; has anybody tried it?

Hi, my brother had also acne vulgaris when he was in puberty, he tried many cosmetical products, some of them would decrease the presence of acne for a while but the problem was persistent. It’s very important to keep your face clean, especially because you probably have greasy skin like other teenagers with acne. Finally, he went to specialist, who is well known for curing acne. He explained that the cause of acne lies in increased level of testosterone, male sexual hormone and prescribed Minocyclin. He was taking it twice a day and had to avoid milk and diary products, because they interact with Minocyclin and decrease it’s absorption. At that time he broke a finger bone on a basketball game, probably as result of decreased intake of calcium, which is incorporated in bones (milk is rich in calcium). So, when you start taking the drug make sure not to avoid milk and diary products completely, but with several hours gap between them and the drug, to have them both absorbed.
