Avascular necrosis happens because bone cells, in this case of the hip bone, die because their blood supply through the veins and other smaller blood vessels has been limited or cut off. I;m afraid that there is not much treatment that offers as permanent pain relief from this condition as the hip replacement procedures. There are some less invasive, but still surgical procedures that basically thin out the hip bone in order to relieve the pain, but they all come down to pain management and don't really offer a complete solution to the problem.
