Hi, I have been dealing with a troublesome cyst, this thing has been there for quite a while. I went to a clinic for a pap smear, because my boyfriend had chlamydia(sp?). Turns out I had it too, but I got treated for it. I asked then about this lump thingy on my vagina. She said it was a cyst and that it wasn't a big problem, that I could go to a gyno and get a mini day sugery, if it really bothered me. A few months later I got it checked out again at my family doctor, she said it was like a boil and just to take a bath rather than a shower, with soap and make sure it is clean. I really dont know what this is, it hasn't gone away, and i dont have a gyno, and I dont know how to get one or anything. Now its getting a bit painful, but not oozy... however I dont see how its possible for it to ooze, there is no hole or anything xD. Please give me some input.
PS. I'm almost 18 and I (sadly) have not really gone to the doctor by myself ever, and I am a bit uninformed about how to get an appointment with a gynocologist. I would contact my family doctor, but it takes 3 weeks to get an appointment and she doesnt have any time then anyways to really sit and talk... And I would really like to see somebody sooner.

Hi hon: You have got the right woman here!!!!! A Bartholin Cyst is a blocked Bartholin Gland inside the vagina opening! It can be tiny like a head of a pencil or as big as a grown mans fist!!! That is what I had before I had surgery, like you I had started with them around 18/19 but NOTHING like the last time. Due to the fact it hasn't drained by itself you will need to have it lanced. BUT before you do that I want you to try something. Take the hottest bath you can stand - without it being to hot in your vaginal area! Pour 3 - 4 full cups of Epsom Salts into the tub, just put in as much water as it goes over your thighs - sso the Epsom Salts are REALLY concentrated. After the water starts turning cooler, get out and pat dry th area. Then get some hydrogen peroxide and some cotton pads - that don't leave any residue (usually makeup ones) Get a towel and place that under you, while you are still warm GENTLY press on both sides of the cyst, keep the Hydrogen Peroxide and pads REALLY close by so IF the cyst goes you will have it within distance to clean up. Just know that since you have had the cyst for awhile its going to be GROSS!!! o.O But if you can't get to a gynecologist soon, then this is your best bet!!! Hopefully the drawing out of the Epsom Salts and warmth will pull out enough of the puss! NOW if that works, you need to keep that area clean with the Hydrogen peroxide swab after everytime you go to the bathroom. And continue with the Epsom Salts bath. You will know if the wound has healed OR needs some more attention, then you would DEFINITELY need to see a doctor ASAP. Just be really careful OK? When mine was lanced in the hospital, the infection actually went into my blood! But my cyst was like a grapefruit!!!!!!! So just be careful and if you think you can't do it, try going to a walk in clinic that overs Gynecology care!!! Or and STD clinic - which this isn't - but they could still help you! Ho hon: It's just like a massive boil or a zit!! It doesn't have an opening - or you wouldn't have the problem ;-) XD So it just needs to be "burst" thats all. I used to be able to do mine, when I was on the toilet. BUT I learnt that it was better to have it totally cleansed and treated with actual hydrogen peroxide insted of toilet paper!!!!! ;-) XD So just be careful and GENTLE Ok? Let me know how it goes!
gahhh. I tried what you said. It did nothing. The pain is getting worse. I am going to a walk in clinic tomorrow to see what they say. Its strange; The skin covering the bubble (whatever the hell this thing is, im reffering to it as a bubble) is very swolen now, and its like its a ball with a bag overtop, as in, i can move the skin (just pulling on it) but the bubble thingy doesnt move... ya.. this pain is really annoying me, can barely sit or walk now.
Yeah I was worried about that, because you have had it so long, it will begin to harden. You WILL need it lanced, AFTER it is lanced, hange around the clinic/hosptial for a bit OK? JUST incase you run into the same problem I did, with the poison going into my blood stream!!!! Thank God I was in a hospital already, They might even consider doing day surgery on you so it is TOTALLY prepped, but either way you NEED it taken care of ASAP. As there is obviously no head on it anymore and it is just a pustule with nowhere to go but inwards!! Be CAREFUL and after keep it clean, and NO sexual contact till it's TOTALLY healed OK? Thanks for the info, Well, something happened last night. I noticed yesterday that there was a bump sort of, on the cyst that i swear wasnt there before. Last night i was in excrutiating pain, pretty much in tears. After a while,I thought I wet myself! I was in shock, then i realized it wasnt pee, it was yucky gooey stuff x.x and then I realized the thing popped. (omg ew) Well, I tryed to squeeze the rest of it out myself, and out came lots of blood and mucus like stuff, and boy did it reak. I will probably go to the doctor tomorrow, but Im just happy enough to know that I can walk without pain lol. Its still there, maybe a blood clot inside? but WAY smaller. The skin around it, is very sore (not around where it opened, where the hair grows down there...) but thats it. I didnt get a chance to wash it right away, it was 1am when this happened, (roughly 12 hours ago) I just wiped it clean, and wore a liner to sleep. Im about to take a shower now to clean it off with water properly.
Hi hon: I KNOW it is GROSS! Unfortunately I didn't get you before your shower, but if you read this soon I want you to do what i told you before. Rinse that area like NEVER before, use a NON SCENTED cleanser - like Spectrogel or better an antibiotic wash! Get ahold of some Hydrogen Peroxide and some lintless swabs. And you swab that area down with as much HP that you can put on a swab! Keep it as dry as possible and keep doing this till it drys. The Epsom Salts bath is great for it. IF you have a squrt bottle it would be best for you, because It's been with you so long it will need sometime for the skin to calm down and ALL the infection to come out. So in the squirt bottle put 2 - 3 tblspoons of HP and VERY warm water and squirt it on and in the area! Just keep thinking IRRIGATE IRRIGATE IRRIGATE!!!! If you can don't wear any underwear or pads and try to air dry it. It's hard I know, BUT if you trap all that in again, by wearing a pad and tight underpants and pants again, you WILL get it again. Does that make sense? So I hope it all goes well for you, let me know OK?
Lol thanks. I just came back from the doctor. They put me on Cephalexin 250mg. She said that its good that it opened on its own, and that I should keep it very clean, and use a strong soap (Irish Spring???) and keep an eye on it. Honestly, right now im just happy im not in pain. lol.

Yeah this happens, it's a large pore, so IF they can fix it then great! IF not then have them remove the gland - it's a quick operation! You will just keep getting them! I had my right one removed - always a problem! The left NEVER was a problem! Actually all the women i've ever known with this, it was always the right side! Not sure why! Do what we talked about before OK? And get treatment as soon as possible - or it will end up getting bigger again!
Three months ago i had a cyst and what do you know? on my RIGHT side. it was the size of a quarter, and so swollen. i couldn't walk or sleep, i was waking up crying in pain thinking it was just an ingrown hair but when i had taking the epsom baths and it hadnt gone away, i finally gave in and went to the E. it was a bartholin's abscess and it had to be drained. they weren't able to get a catheter in so they left it open to drain and i healed within in a few weeks but the pain was excruciating while i had that thing. it was a major relief the minute they gave me the numbing.
well three months later and i have another one forming. it's starting to hurt. right in the same spot my scar is, the boil is the size of a pea. what can i do so it doesn't get as bad as last time, how many times per day should i take epsom salt baths? what else should i look out for?
hey .; im from south Carolina. I actually had this same exact issue!! 2day is 08/19..... last night I kudnt take it anymore. I had a abcess/or boil/risen whatever u want to kall it on my left labia (left vaginal lip). I was the size of a golf ball. it pertrudeded like 2 inches. it was soooooooo excruciating. at first it just hurt when I touched it. I tried everything hot rags... blue star ointment, my last resort was Epsom salt and water. I kudnt walk. I almost cried many times just from walking but when Epsom salt did not work I kudnt take it any more and went to the hospital. he said he was very glad I kame and tht it was a very bad infection. he said my tissue was infected and it was more swollen then anything.. I felt sooooo much better after the procedure. I picked up my prescription alast night he has me on cephalexin, sulfameth/trimethoprim and oxycodone/acetaminophen for the pain the first two were for the infection to klear it up. but I am so glad someone has the same story as me. yes baby girl at least u didn't have to go to the doctor and get it lanced like me and bambi27.
