for the past two weeks ( About two days after my normal period ended), I have been having some serious problems with vaginal discharge. It is coming out all the time(no sex for almost two years). It started just brown then it became brown and black like old blood. Now after having this for two weeks, I am now having bloody mucus whenever I urinate. Does anyone know what the problem may be?
Hi...

I am on this site because this is happeing to me. I was told by a friend that its old blood, but I dont recall having this problem in the past. I am 44, and still get my period like clock work. I am not sexally active, at least not with a partner. ;-)

I have no pain, no oder and no other signs that there may be a problem. I worry a lot about cancer, but when I read all these other posts about the same thing I am having, then I guess it might be normal. However, if it does not clear up by the end of my next period, I will go see a doctor.

I experience stringy, brown to black mucus strands, especially when I wipe. It also ends up in my underware also. Its scary, embarressing and annoying.

Good Luck

Hi...

I am having the same thing. I used to be on the pill, but stopped taking it one year ago to try for a family. As soon as my real periods began again (took about 4 months) I started to experience different type of periods.

This month I started spotting 10-12 days before my period is due. It started with some light blood spots, then it stopped, now it has changed to a thick stringy black/brown discharge.

I have had a smear test, internal exam and swabs taken and I have been told I'm completely fine. My body could be getting rid of the old blood, or it really is taking a long time to settle down. Ive been on the pill for over 16 years, so I dont know what my real periods are like anymore. I do have period pains, as I should be starting my real period in 2 days.

It seems there are so many of us that have this odd bleeding, and the periods that last 3-5 days are rare when not on the pill (instead of withdrawl bleeding as I got on the pill).

I would get checked out from the doctor to put your mind at rest.
