my huspand has suffered from a blood shot eye for the last 2 weeks. Although it does not cause him pain, it is causing him some concern.

It sounds too long for a blood shot eye. Is your husband allergic to something?
I reckon he may be experiencing it because he is constantly exposed to the irritant. Has he been checked for conjunctivitis?
