Well, my alarm went off at 6:15 so i could get up and have a nice relaxed breakfast and to settle my nerves.

I am in number 2 position for the relay team. Number 1, myself and number 3 all head up to that starting gate for the relay runners. PACKED!! 8O My nerves come back...

Number 1 (bruce) takes off from the same start line as the full marathon runners. He has to start off with a 5.2 km loop while 9 of us do 4.2 and the finisher does 3.2 because she ends at the start/finish line... SO i watch him as runs past the 'corral' where I am waiting for him. He is at the front of the pact ZOOMING 8O more nerves...

18:00 minutes later he comes into the corral, I take the timing chip and I am off. I took off a lot quicker than I had planned finishing the first 2 kms in 6:38 8O . "SLOW. Down Karlene!" I tell myself. So i settle into a nice pace and finish my 4.2 kms in 25:39. I've never run a relay before so I just wanted to finish in under 30:00. which gave me a huge window to feel good about my run.

Our team ended up finishing in 3:50:56 with an average pace of 5:17 per km. The winning team finished with 2:42:07 with a pace of 3:51 per km 8O You should have seen them go! a few of them did 2 legs each. Very impressive.

All in all, I am very impressed with how the team did for just throwing co-workers together and with myself for having a time to try and beat next time!
:wiggle:

I can't wait until next year!!
