Had my GB out Dec 13, had difficult breathing for a couple weeks and now this chest pain. Went to the ER Jan 13 (not my lucky day)- Thought I was having heart attack. Looking back they had no clue. 30% of ER chest pain is Costo and I think that's the problem. Different pains- Sternum, across my chest and now bottom of rib cage ?? See new VA Dr tomorrow- Is it bacterial lingering ?? Good luck Crystal

After having my GB remobed, I also had problems breathing and I think I can explain it to a certain extent- I'm surprised no Dr has explained. When they scope for the removal of that GB, one of the insertions of the scope is right at the corner where you rib cage and lung meet. When breathe, and your lung expands, it rubs right where the scope went and you have a fresh wound. It's incredibly painful for about 6 weeks.
As to the other matter of Costochondritis (post surgery ??) I've been suffering with it also. Had such incredible pain right at my Xyphoid, thought I was having a heart attack !! 4-5 months later, it's better, but not gone and didn't show on a CT scan.

Hi everyone, I'm currently going through the same situation. was operated last week, and for some weird reason the doctor blamed the shortness of breath on 'the beginning of a chest infection'.
Clearly i have quit smoking one year prior i was diagnosed and yet the doctor still thinks that the breathing problems are related t a chest infection due to smoking. how is this remotely possible?? does anyone have any feedback since you all posted here?

Hello how is she doing ? I have had the same issue I've never been the same since June 2016 the day I came home after a D&C of the uterus. Shortness of breath ,wheezing, chest pain and heaviness . Lost my quality of life. Hope your wife is feeling better
