Hey Everyone! I need some help. I am 21 years old and have been on the pill for the past 4 years. I have been with my boyfriend for over a year and a half and have been having unprotected sex with him. The first day of my last period was March 24 which means I ovulated the beginning of the week. I had sex with my boyfriend on April 4th. Yesterday I had brown discharge for a few hours and today it is gone completely.I had a few cramps and thought I was getting my period again which isn't due until the 21st. What is going on?
Hi Murlsgirl: If you have taken the pill regularly, you should be ok. Even though it is not 100% effective. On the other hand, many women notice a redish/brownish discharge when the egg is implanted into the womb. Usually with light cramping. Did you know that you ovulated for sure though? As my friend so crudely put it "dropping an egg" cramp and sometimes discharge is when you are ovulating. If your periods are like clockwork and you have followed taking the pill to the t. It could be ovulation. If on the other hand you ARE pregnant, that means that you conceived very early on. And might be able to tell before your period is due. The longer you are pregnant, the higher the HCG level. One other thing that just came to mind is, yeast infection. If you feel a burning sensation, could be that too. Isn't being a woman great? :-D I wish you luck, and to be 100% protected not only from pregnancy but from STD's as well, have your boyfriend use a condom.

I am almost positive I ovulated on the 5th. And the first 3 years I have been on the pill my periods were like clockwork but over th past 3 months they have been either 4 or 5 days early or 4 or 5 days late. So i am not sure what's going on. I never had this brown discharge after ovulation before so It's all new to me.

I am pretty sure I ovulated on the 5th. Sinc being on the pill, the first 3 years my periods were like clockwork. Over the past 3 months not so much. Either I'll get my period 4-5 days before I should or 4-5 days late. I never had this brown discharge after ovulation before so I am not sure what it is. It's all new to me!

Then it just sounds like the lining of your uterus - period! I went through similar problems when I 1st went on the pill, I had to change about every year or two. I don't know why that is, maybe it's like shampoo XD Your hair gets used to one brand and starts getting greasy again!!! We are not only complicated emotional creatures, but also physically! :O Check with your doctor, I know all these new pills lately, there is such a HUGE choice. I know after a couple of years I just stopped using them. I was sick and tired of having to try different ones. BUT that was years ago. Your doctor or Gynecologist will know what to put you on. There are even ones to cut your period down to a couple of days. But I'm always hesitant to mess with Mother Nature too much - you know what I mean? Sounds like a change is needed. And remember, when/if you do change the pill. Have your boyfriend wear a condom ALL the time. When your body is getting used to the "formula"! Best Wishes and Health
