Hi.
Based on your description, it's difficult to determine the exact cause of the red bumps and pain you're experiencing in your mons pubis area. However, there are a few possibilities to consider:
-
Ingrown hair: Ingrown hairs occur when hair follicles become trapped beneath the skin, leading to inflammation and the development of red bumps. They can sometimes be painful. Proper hair removal techniques and exfoliation may help prevent ingrown hairs.
-
Folliculitis: Folliculitis is the inflammation of hair follicles, typically caused by bacterial or fungal infection. It can appear as red bumps and be accompanied by pain or itching. Keeping the area clean and dry, avoiding tight clothing, and practicing good hygiene can help prevent and manage folliculitis.
-
Bartholin's cyst or abscess: The Bartholin's glands are located on either side of the vaginal opening and can become blocked, leading to the formation of a cyst or abscess. This may cause pain, swelling, and discomfort. Warm compresses and good hygiene practices may help alleviate symptoms, but medical evaluation and treatment may be necessary.
-
Other skin conditions: There are various skin conditions that can cause red bumps and discomfort in the genital area, such as dermatitis, contact allergies, or sexually transmitted infections (STIs). Only a healthcare professional can provide an accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment based on a thorough examination and possibly additional tests.
Considering the persistent pain and discomfort you're experiencing, it's important to overcome any embarrassment and seek medical attention. Healthcare professionals are trained to handle these types of concerns with sensitivity and confidentiality. They will be able to provide a proper diagnosis and develop an appropriate treatment plan for your specific situation.
