Hello, folks. I have read about the case where a woman had a very rare blood group and she needed blood immediately. This blood couldn’t be found, but there was a gay man who was willing to offer his own blood. Can gay people be blood donors at all? I would like to hear your opinions on this.
Hello, there. During the 80’s, health institutions prohibited gay men to give blood. In that period people knew very little about AIDS. I think this law is still in use. However, I guess there are many gay men that do not declare in public, so they give blood. I think this is a sort of discrimination. Being gay does not mean automatically you are HIV positive. Many gay right organizations are fighting against this prejudice. I hope this helps. Bye!
