here are three facts that is pretty consistent among the information available online:

1. can be contracted through oral sex

2. bacteria can only be passed in a wet environment

3. cannot be passed through kissing

my question is, how does this add up? 1 and 2 are consistent with each other. the mouth and the genitals are both moist areas, but if 2 is indeed true, why is it that chlamydia cannot be passed through kissing?

Not true. Chlamydia can be contracted from a koala bear if one infected was to urinate on you. Look up one direction koala bear scare and you will find two band members had to be tested after a koala urinated on them during a photo shoot in Australia. I'd like to see a medical professional try and argue this fact. Therefore an infected human could infect another human by urinating on them (golden shower) . There are some trully naive health care professionals out there.

Yes you can get it by other means that sexual intercourse. Sorry Mr. MD but you are incorrect. My daughter is 19 and was recently diagnosed with it, then my wife a couple of weeks later. My wife and I have been married for over 20 years and we are both faithful. My wife was last tested about 1 and 1/2 years ago when she was last pregnant and was negative at that time. So, somehow either from a toilet seat or other physical contact other than sexual the disease was passed from my daughter to my wife. By the way, my wife does have a compromised immune system so it is more likely for her to contract something like this than others.

I have been with the same man since i lost my virginity to him ( we lost it together) its been 5 years and i havent slept with anyone else i got a yearly exam and trested positive and my husband tested negative, so i know there is a way to catch it from somthing other than sex, when i found out i asumed it was him and he got tested a day after me and it was negative so the world needs to really look into this issue.

Could you get it from holding a vaginally delivered baby? He was clean (he was bathed), and we had no idea his mother had chlamydia until we got back for our shift the next after they were discharged. I mean we used gloves for diaper changes, we constantly wash our hands and use the sanitizer and wipe stuff down. Would we still need to get tested anyways? I've never had this situation before, so I am worried a bit. Any advice could be helpful.

i have a question and it seems you may be the best qualified to answer. My room mate had chlamydia, she transmitted it to her boy friend and they both got treated. I worry because it has been one month since they got treated for their conditions and now i am experianceing thick creamy discharge with slight pain and burning (the discharge is creamy, not clumpy and has no odor), i also have endometryosis (i know i spelt that wrong my apologies) so a slight burning and pain is common fr me. My condition also leads me to beleve im not pregnant. should i worry that i contracted chlamydia from my room mate or her boyfriend? i never had ANY type of sexual interaction with either of them, but she did borrow my stockings from time to time. im just concerned and have no insurance fr a doctor. Thank you for your time i realy need an educated opinion

OMG I so glad you posted this! I was the caregiver for a family member who had cancer. She was very private about her doctor visits and telling me everything that was going on with her. She had a thrust in her mouth I was treating with some kind of swish for bacteria. Also consistently had urines issues etc. Found out after her death she had Chlamydia. This was after I was diagnosed with it, that I started researching her medical records etc. She vomited on me, I bathed her, I cleaned every part of her body, and her breathing equipment. I'm so angry about this, I've been going through antibiotics and next week have to have another pap to make sure its gone. I know for a fact I did not sleep with anyone but my husband and he is negative. I'm still having some lower stomach pain and lower back a week later so I'm fearful that its not cleared up. I know I got this from her, I just wish I was more careful when caring for her :(

I am a 21 year old male and was tested positive last week. I am a virgin, haven't had vaginal, anal or oral sex. So yes, apparently you can get it from something other than sex.

f**k you got some good advise, not only are you gloating about the fact of how many people you've slepted with but moreso not doing the right thing and using protection, when you get infected with either HIV or Hepatitis, then you'll really start to click as to how dumb you have been. good luck on your long journey of being infected ya jacka**

i been with my boyfriend for a while now and we got it and i know for sure he couldnt of cheated on me, the doctor told me so many diffrent ways you can get it, your partner dont have to cheat for you to get chylamydia, it worries me sometimes but i know he didnt cheat i trust him , and a toilet seat is common, public bathrooms mostly, someone who has it could sit on that toilet and left the bacteria behind and you could of gotten it from sitting on that same toilet

I just had a baby 3 months ago and before that they gave a routine check for HIV and STD's since I always deliver vaginally, however after my postpartum check up I tested positive for Chlamydia and days later my husband when to get a swap test and he tested negative. How is this possible I can't seemed to wrapped this around my head. I have never been unfaithful and I am scared out of mind because now I have to test my baby too. It's just to sad falling into depression.

The STD "chlamydia" is caused by an infection (colonization or preponderance) of the microoganism chlamydia in the body. It is not a bacterium, therefore it isn't "bacterial". However, it is microscopic and reproduces rapidly, if that's what you meant.

I too had the same problem. I too searched and searched trying to find answers. My boyfriend swore up and down, he even said he was negative. But I had another test done to rule out mistakes, and it came back positive. I then asked... how is it possible I am positive and he was negative...answer? If he got treated with antibiotics for ANYTHING else, then he got treated. He probably never knew, and he probably never thought you would find out either, so he will deny, deny, deny and make u doubt... but truth is, if u got routine exams, or he's your first, or whatever the case may be, then....he cheated. Yes, that means he had sexual contact with someone else. And yes, it is the OnLY way you can get it. And no, he is NOT telling the truth...probably never will.
