I had a Cold knife cone Biopsy a fews years ago due to a abnormal papSmear, I am worried that I cannot have a baby after that surgery. I'm not trying to have a child at the moment but when I do I would like to. Can i get pregnant after that procedure?
YES!!! You can get pregnant! I wanted to let you know that I had a cone biopsy done after the birth of my first child (about a year after). Whoever says the cervix doesn't have nerves in it doesn't have one or has never had anyone mess with theirs - YIKES!! Anyway, I WAS able to get pregnant again (about 3 months after the conization), but I did have to have a stitch put in at the beginning of my pregancy to "keep the baby in". The procedure wasn't that bad & it was effective - I delivered a healthy baby at term, so it was totally worth it. My OB/GYN said it would be difficult to have a third (almost full time bed rest), but not impossible. I'm not willing to risk it - I have two wonderful daughters (11 and 9 now). Hope this is helpful.
Hello,
I recently had a cone biopsy in June of 2008, I already have 2 beautiful children but would love another. Just 3 weeks ago i had another pap smear and everything came out normal. I know everyone is different but did you take some kind of vitamins in order for you to have a healthy pregnant right after the biopsy. Quote:

i hope this can be helpful to someone! i had a biopsy done to me without a result of a pap smear. i was having a abnormal bleeding for quite some time and it can be a result of hormonal imbalance; estrogen level being too high or malfunction of uterus, or abruption of placentia. i google this info. anyhow because of my age the biopsy was done to me or to find out why i am bleeding. i am supposedly forty five years old. either case i feel it can be an unjust experience.
Hello Ladies,
I had conization done at the end of January this year, have been fine since, with some spotting a day or two before my period, especially during an intercourse. Sometimes my period begins weirdly, with brown spotting for 2 days and then it kicks in or it is just normal. How long will it take before my period goes back to normal?
Also, my partner and I have been using no protection since April and I am not falling pregnant, do you think my body still needs time to recover? When should I know that I may need to try different options than trying naturally to fall pregnant? Am already 33 years old and would prefer not to wait for another 5 years or so...
Thank you and wishes,
Agatha

About 10% of women who have a biopsy done will have problems getting pregnant. I guess all you can do is try. Good luck everyone.
Hi , I had a conal biopsy to remove 1/2 of my cervix. I was told that I couldn't have any more kids which made me upset (even though I had 2 at home) I didn't like the fact that the choice was taken away from me. 4 months after my surgery and 7 positive home pregnancy tests, I was pregnant with baby number 3. My Drs. Couldn't believe it , I was told I'd miscarry at any given time. That they couldn't believe how I could even conceive, my pregnancy was monitored very close, I was put on light duty at work (lift no more than 20pds) I was also told, on top of if I sneeze I could lose my baby, that I'd be put on bed rest ... I'm happy to say, I never was stitched, nor bedridden, and worked literally hrs up to having my daughter. My pregnancy went great. My delivery was a bit hard, I was almost sectioned, due to the scar tissue blocking the cervix. Today I have a very healthy, happy energetic 6 year old daughter (my miracle baby) when she was a year I had my tubes cut, tied and burned..Again no babies for me... Within the past year I've had 3 miscarriages (early on) and might have had another.. Have a scheduled ultrasound in a few days.
P.s. -Anything is possible if it's meant to be :) good luck
Very helpful.reassured infact
I had half my cervix removed and less then 6 weeks after the surgery and the doctor telling me it would be extremely hard for my to have a child i was pregnant. It was a rough pregnancy but i had my son vaginally at 38 weeks. He was perfectly healthy and i did not have to get the stich put in.
I had a cold cone biopsy Sept. 2015 and found out in May 2016 that we're having a baby! I moved, so I started with a new OBGYN, on my first pap, they saw a problem (after being clear for years and years with a problem maybe 5 years ago), I was called back in and on the re-test, it escalated to a CIN 2 and it was deep in my cervix, so they scheduled surgery. I was 35 when I had the cold cone surgery. I could feel my chances of having a baby slipping away, but I held onto some hope and tried to tell myself that I would not be overly upset if it spread and I could not ever have kids. After surgery, I was told that the lesions went up to 'severe' CIN 3 but all was captured in the surgery - with clear margins. I was told not to try to get pregnant for 6 months after the surgery and re-started birth control. I stopped taking birth control 3 months after surgery because we didn't have success before the surgery (before I found that I had a problem) and figured that I wanted to get back to trying (to help timelines, figuring that I would need IVF or some sort of intervention). The weekend before I was scheduled for my post-surgical check up (May 2016), I found out that I was expecting a baby! Since the pregnancy started 6 months after the surgery, the doctor was confident that I would be fine and I had monitoring of my cervical length. The monitoring did have an internal ultrasound, but on the bright side, I have Many more beautiful ultrasound pictures of my sweet baby boy. He is due on Christmas Day - and he is measuring right on track. Thank you for these posts, they helped a lot while I was preparing for surgery. And I truly wish all the best to everyone else living with and living beyond cervical pre-cancer and cancer.
