Is this the place to look for information about Multiple Sclerosis? I read that environmental factors are considered to play a big part in the development of Multiple Sclerosis, and I was wondering what was mean by that exactly. Does this mean that viruses can be a trigger for Multiple Sclerosis? I'd be happy with any further info.
Indeed. While several specific genes have now been linked to Multiple Sclerosis, people in whom those genes are present don't always get Multiple Sclerosis, so that leaves many questions. Several groups of viruses, particularly those affecting the brain tissue, have been proven to be a trigger to Multiple Sclerosis. A reduced chance of getting Multiple Sclerosis has also been identified in people who have not been infected with certain viruses, further proving the link between Multiple Sclerosis and viral infections.
