Hello, folks. My father was recently at the doctor’s office and he has done routinely ECG. When doctor saw it, he said that my father had suffered from heart attack. As far as I know, he didn’t have any symptoms. Is this possible? Can one have a heart attack without being aware of it? Thanks.
Hello, there. Yes, it is possible. There is a certain number of people that have a heart attack without being aware of it. Usually, these people are diabetics, but it doesn’t have to be. When they make ECG, a doctor notices previous infarct. The scar, which remains after the infarct, always leaves a permanent mark on ECG. That is how doctors see whether anyone had heart attack or not. This was probably the case with your father. He should talk to his doctor about eliminating other risk factors of another heart attack. I hope everything will be all right. Bye!
