can you lift weights when you have lymphodemia, or even if you don't have it will it harm you?
I have lymphodemia and go to the gym and do weights. The lymphodemia affects my right leg and I do have to be aware of what my leg tells me. Such as one gym machine is to lift weights with the shins and after a few days the right shin got bruising. So I put a folded towel between the leg and the weight, no more problem. I always wear my compression garment to help the lymph. It is a case of doing things slowly and carefully with professional advice. If you have a gym mebership they usually throw training sessions in for free and I have always found the trainers to be understanding, and very interested in the condition. They should also look up any information about the condition to make sure they do not overwork you or your limb.
I would also say that excersiing everyday has actually helped with that awful dull aching and heavyness that comes with a lymphatic limb.
