Can you tell me, as a rough guide. where should the cervix sit in a 52 year old with two children?  For example using middle finger to measure. I know everyone is different, it is just to give me a idea. Thanks.

It depends on so many things, you can't really define an average. Sometimes the cervix is so far up the vagina that it is difficult to reach while other times it can sit just a couple inches inside the vagina. Having children tends to stretch the pelvic support tissues, so the cervix tends to be lower down. Also, after the memopause, the muscles tend to thin out and weaken, also making it drop down.

Hope this helps

I thought I had a prolapse, but the doctor said my bladder was very slightly lower and my cervix was about 1cm lower and that was fine, as you get older, things tend to go down a bit! I was also wondering, if you have a prolapse, does the cervix always stay in the same position, or does it still go up and down a bit?

Yes - a prolapse just means that the muscular tissues that support the pelvic organs have become too weak to hold them in the normal position. One of the effects of this is that the cervix will be lower down the vagina than before, but it can still move up and down, according to what you are doing.

So, if the cervix in someone of my age having had two children was around two knuckles length using the middle finger as a guide, would this be so called normal?

Sounds pretty normal to me

Thanks, I got a surprise, as I expected it to be much higher. It is not something I have done before, so was surprised when it was easy to feel it.

Curious.  Will the cervix in a woman who has had child usually be lower than a woman who has not.  Plus, after menopause, will it sit lower and how low is okay?
